Gnomes

Gnomes are world creatures controlled by the player. Craft the World . Their maximum number is always equal to the player's level. Dead gnomes can be revived with the help of a resurrection potion in the presence of a soul keeper. If it is not there, then a new one will take the place of the deceased gnome.

Health

Each gnome, regardless of skills, has a maximum health of 10 units. (visually - 3 hearts). There are several ways to restore health: using an elixir, food (which has the effect of healing), sleep and rest (the dwarf stands still and “idles”).

Skills

Each new gnome initially has 1 random skill, which can later be developed using books or by repeating the actions needed for the skill. Gnomes can only be trained in other skills with the help of skill books.

Interaction

Free gnomes automatically go to complete tasks given by the player. They will also independently pick up items lying on the ground and take them to the warehouse. In some cases, it is more convenient to manage each directly, taking it under manual control. In this mode, the range of placing and destroying a block is increased by 1 one cell. Also, an indisputable advantage of manual control is the absence of the need to go to the warehouse for resources, since the player and the dwarf immediately have access to all stocks.

game worlds

  • Land of new hopes is the first planet of the campaign. The geography of the Forest World mainly consists of fertile land, mostly overgrown with forest (also, glades overgrown with wild wheat are often found), and a large number of reservoirs.

The authors were inspired by , (outwardly very similar to its sleek copy) and , although in the end they got a light version with a side view and modern graphics, adapted for a wide audience.

I can dig, I can not dig

The story of a detachment of brave dwarves begins in a classic sandbox fashion: with the landing of a lone scout without equipment on a hostile island. What happens next depends entirely on the settings chosen at the start of the game. Several options turn "casual" entertainment into a merciless struggle for existence, where every mistake can be fatal.

Danger lurks everywhere: the undead roam the surface, evil spirits, spiders and carnivorous plants start up in the darkness of dungeons, colonies of predatory ants await careless miners, and goblin tribes are always ready to make a sudden predatory raid. If on an easy level of difficulty these threats are not so terrible, then on a hard one you have to bravely lock yourself behind strong doors, surround your home with various traps and take care of your frail wards in every possible way. It is impossible to completely avoid battles: for killed enemies they give the experience necessary to increase the population.

Another reason to leave a safe haven is resource extraction. Everything that the gnomes need, they can make from improvised materials. To do this, it is enough to place the components in the correct order in 9 cells of the workbench, just like in. The only difference is that complex objects are not created instantly: for some time they “reach condition” in a forge, on a carpentry machine or on a hearth. There are more than two hundred recipes in total, and it seems that there are no useless ones among them. For example, home decorations improve comfort and help build strength faster after a battle. Starting the game, we get a choice of two development models - sequential and "sandbox": in the first technology, they open in turn, from simple to complex, and in the second, nothing holds back creativity, you just need to find (or guess) the right recipe.

Managing a settlement is not difficult. Basically, everything costs the issuance of tasks that the gnomes regularly perform. Dangerous directions can be blocked with prohibition signs, and tired and hungry workers are forcibly sent to sleep and eat. Finally, any gnome can be "possessed". Fighting in this mode is not very cool, but it is easier to build large structures: there is no need to drive to the warehouse, the details are already in your pocket.

Where bearded pioneers fail, magic is used. A dozen spells are enough to make life easier, and the most important thing - the portal - is available immediately. It allows you to go anywhere, bypassing all obstacles. Mana is restored slowly, but if you do not scatter fireballs left and right, then there will be no major problems with it.

Although even with an accurate game, it is difficult to do without losses. Poor fellows are able to die out of the blue: jump into a crowd of monsters, fall into a deep mine or drown in a lake. Moreover, all his equipment falls out of the dead man, and his comrades run to pick it up with a predictable result. With standard settings, you shouldn’t worry too much about this: after a few minutes, new settlers come to replace the fallen, and things can be returned with a spell. Only learned skills will disappear, but they are still sold in the store. Stubborn masochist connoisseurs can choose the "permanent death" mode - here strong nerves will come in handy, because the price of a mistake increases greatly.

Last week I was introduced to the sandbox game Craft The World. Although the game is 2014, it is still interesting to play it today. Craft The World is one of the representatives of sandbox games, with original controls and non-standard gameplay for games of this genre. When starting a game in a sandbox, I expect a variety of hotkeys (hello Factorio) and commands, but in Craft The World, there are practically no hotkeys, the game has a kind of simplified version of interacting with the world, in general, you still need to get used to such simplicity.

The game is not without its drawbacks, but I definitely advise all fans of the genre, it's worth trying to play.

So, during the time that I spent in the game, I had various questions, and in connection with this, I decided to write an overview guide on Craft The World for those who are just starting the game, in general, an instruction for beginners.

A game

The game is nothing complicated, in your control are several gnomes (one per level 1), with whose hands you make your way through the bowels of the earth in search of minerals. After the 4th minion, a timer starts, after which hordes of demons attack your fortress.

Little hack: If you do not want to fight off hordes of enemies every time you are attacked, move the camera away from the base and wait out the night. By morning, the enemies will be gone, and the base will remain intact (in 9 out of 10 cases). When your base is out of camera focus, attackers can break through your fortifications for "hours".

Especially for such tactics, you can wall up all the exits and entrances and make something like a fortress underground.

Will you engage in a fight or avoid it, in any case, the entire game process builds on a tech tree that you need to research to get the best equipment and craft the final pieces for the portal. In order to learn a new technology, you need to create items from the materials found, some items can be dismantled to return spent resources, and some cannot. Therefore, I present a list of all the basic things for crafting that can be disassembled into parts and which will no longer be disassembled.

Walls

Your house can be built from anything: snow, earth, stone, ice, wood, brick, etc. At the very first stage of the game, it is best to build from auxiliary materials - earth, snow, sand, and only later replace it with those materials from which you want to build your fortress.

Little hack: If you have a hard time with food or you don’t know where to get grains (for the same pumping of the technology tree), then do not rush to change the earthen floor for wood or stone. From time to time, rats appear in the dugout, which are a source of meat, and their nests, after destruction, give several ears of wheat.
