At first, it is recommended to use only hard-boiled eggs. Scrambled eggs and raw quail eggs can be introduced after the baby is a little older - best after six months. There is an opinion that quails are not susceptible to salmonellosis, but doctors do not agree with him.

Is it possible for nursing mothers to omelet and scrambled eggs

Fried eggs, like other processed foods, are best excluded from the menu when breastfeeding. They contain high amounts of unhealthy fats and cholesterol, which can have a negative impact on health. In addition, during breastfeeding, scrambled eggs are more difficult for the body to absorb, often followed by heartburn and heaviness in the stomach.

If you really want to eat a fried egg, you can cook with fried eggs in a multicooker, double boiler or in a non-stick skillet without using oil or other fat.

It is believed, and very popular, that it is very useful to eat crushed eggshells to restore the level of calcium in the body. It is believed that such calcium is easily absorbed by the body and allows you to quickly fill the deficit.

However, most doctors are sure that such a product can seriously harm health, since it is not actually absorbed by the body. Therefore, it is better to use special pharmaceutical calcium preparations and adjust the menu. Eggs, for all their usefulness, are a very controversial product, so a nursing mother should treat it with caution and listen carefully both to her body and to the reactions of the baby.

Eggs have gained wide popularity among athletes for a high percentage of protein in their composition and a low (relative to other animal products) calorie content: chicken eggs - 157 kcal per 100 g, quail eggs - 158 kcal. Such a protein concentrate with a low energy value is the merit of water, which contains 74.35% of the total mass.

The wateriness, however, does not prevent eggs from being a product with a composition that is truly unique in its balance. So, out of 15 vitamins in chicken eggs, only vitamin C is missing, and from micro- and macronutrients - only boron and silicon.

The leading vitamins in chicken eggs are:

  • B4 (50% of the daily value in 100 g of the product);
  • H (40%);
  • A (29%);
  • B5 (26%);
  • B2 (24%).

In the vitamin composition of quail eggs, vitamins are in the lead:

  • B12 (53% of the daily value in 100 g of the product);
  • B4 (53%);
  • B2 (44%);
  • B5 (35%);
  • B9 (17%).

Cobalt, selenium, phosphorus, sulfur and iron occupy the first places among micro- and macroelements of chicken eggs. The micro- / macroelement composition of quail eggs is similar, with the exception of the complete absence of cobalt in them.

In addition, egg whites (in the biochemical sense, and not the shell surrounding the yolk) are as easily digestible as possible and contain a full set of amino acids.

Shell

Shells, which have been eaten since ancient times to eliminate the lack of calcium in general and after childbirth in particular, are no less useful. As Hungarian scientists have found out, the shell consists of calcium carbonate by as much as 90%. Moreover, calcium from the shell is easily absorbed by the body, which is confirmed by numerous reviews and which cannot be said about the almost useless chalk, gypsum and calcium chloride. The shell is also rich in molybdenum, silicon, zinc, phosphorus, copper, manganese, iron, fluorine and twenty more micro- and macroelements.

Important: during the GW period, you can only eat boiled, dried and crushed shells. Raw is categorically contraindicated due to the danger of salmonellosis infection.

Harm

Doubts as to whether eggs are possible for a nursing mother are quite reasonable.

Firstly, eating raw eggs or even poorly fried fried eggs means putting yourself in danger of salmonellosis (although it is not passed on to a child with milk). However, prolonged heat treatment, saving from Salmonella, will inevitably destroy up to half of the vitamins and, in addition, make the product much more difficult to digest.

Is it possible for nursing mothers to omelet? Definitely, it will cause much less harm than raw eggs, but short-term cooking would be an ideal option for people with strong immunity, i.e. cooking boiled soft-boiled eggs. It will simultaneously kill most of the pathogenic microbes (the body will successfully cope with the rest) and retain a sufficient amount of vitamins.

Second, eggs (especially scrambled eggs and other fried foods) are rich in "bad" cholesterol. It is he who is deposited on the inner walls of veins and arteries, increasing the likelihood of a stroke or heart attack after the final clogging of the vessel by one of the cholesterol plaques. Plus - the yolk is mainly rich in cholesterol, while the protein can be eaten without fear; minus - it is in the yolk that up to 90% of all nutrients are contained.

Thirdly, store-bought eggs purchased from poultry farms always contain large doses of antibiotics. This is the only way breeders can maintain the stunted health of chickens who spend their entire lives in a cramped shaded cage. As a result, these medicines destroy the normal microflora in the mother's body and contribute to the development of pathogenic ones.

Fourthly, to accelerate egg production and simultaneously eliminate "unnecessary" processes (molting, clucking, incubation instinct), producers introduce hormonal preparations into the body of birds. And although they are much less than in meat and milk, they are able to disrupt the secretion of natural hormones, which is already characterized by instability after childbirth.

Fifth, eggs contain great amount nitrates, many times overtaking fruits and vegetables in this indicator. According to the results of a study by the Israeli Ministry of Health in 2013, the amount of nitrates in a single chicken egg is 2.5-5.5 times higher than the dose safe for a child.

Allergy

Finally, the sixth factor is allergies. The egg contains as many as four allergenic proteins: ovalbumin, ovomucoid, lysozyme and conalbumin. The first two are the most dangerous.

Allergy to this product manifests itself in extremely diverse ways:

  • eczema;
  • Quincke's edema;
  • intestinal dyspepsia;
  • stool disorders;
  • nausea;
  • allergic rhinitis;
  • bronchial asthma.

At the same time, the protein is recognized 50 times more allergenic than the yolk, since the main allergen of the latter, vitellin, is rapidly destroyed when the yolk is heat-treated.

How to introduce eggs into your diet

You can start eating eggs for a nursing mother no earlier than a month after giving birth. And even this term is disputed by other doctors, raising it to six months. You should start with just a third of one yolk.

In the absence of allergic reactions in a child, you can increase the proportion of this product in the diet, but even the maximum recommended "dose" for HS is only 3 eggs per week.

In addition, if before the mother ate raw eggs without consequences, then they must be abandoned for the entire lactation period.

Precautions should also be taken by those who decide to eat eggshells. She, like the yolk with protein, can be contaminated with salmonella, so only "boiled" shells are considered safe.

Eggs are a controversial product. Possessing rich, perfectly balanced chemical composition and useful shells, they are at the same time capable of undermining the health of the mother due to the high content of cholesterol, antibiotics, nitrates, hormones and the possible presence of salmonella in them. Therefore, the question is not whether a nursing mother can have eggs, but how many and which ones.
