SELECTION OF WIRE AND ROLLERS FOR MEASURING THE AVERAGE DIAMETER

EXTERNAL THREADS

1. Terms and explanations

1.1. dr. - the nominal diameter of the wire or roller, which in the process of measuring the thread with

symmetric profile provides points of contact A () with the measured profile at the level of the average diameter (Fig. 4).

For threads with an asymmetric profile, the point of contact A () of the wire of nominal diameter d D with the measured profile is provided only on the side of the root with a large angle of inclination (Fig. 5).

1.2. d D; d D - the limiting values of the diameter of the wire or roller, at which the points of contact A

with the sides of the thread profile are removed from the points of contact A, (provided by wires with a diameter d n) by

the maximum permissible distance (Fig. 6 and 7).

Crap. 6 Damn. 7

2. When using wires and rollers of the preferred diameter d n - the measurement error is minimal.

3. When using wires and rollers of preferred diameters for measuring the average diameter of threads with an asymmetric profile, the error in the largest angle (3 does not affect the measurement result, and the error in the smallest angle y affects the measurement result and must be taken into account.

4. The use of wires and rollers with the preferred diameter is not allowed if:

the point farthest from the thread axis on a wire or roller with a diameter d n is located below

outer diameter of the thread;

for trapezoidal threads, the diameter of the wire or roller touches the inside diameter of the thread.

In these cases, wires with a diameter of more than d n should be used.

If wires or rollers of preferred diameters are absent or cannot be used, then for each specific case of measurements, the dimensions of wires and rollers can be selected from those given in Appendix 2.

In this case, the selected diameter of the wire or roller must be equal to or less than d D and more

d D, and the measurement results must be corrected.

Measuring wires and rollers

Measuring wires are designed to measure the average diameter of the external thread, as well as to measure the thickness of the teeth and the width of the grooves of spline shafts and bushings with an involute profile.

The design of the wires makes it possible to use them with devices for hanging or mounting on the device. Measuring wires are made with a diameter of 0.118 to 4.773 mm and are supplied in plastic cases in sets of three wires attached to special tags. According to the manufacturing accuracy, they are divided into two classes: class 0, class. The rollers are manufactured in diameters from 5,176 to 26,231 mm, also in two accuracy classes and are supplied in sets of three rollers in a cardboard box.

Control and measuring devices (KIP) are equipment without which it is impossible to imagine modern production today. Measurements are required at every stage of production and in a wide variety of industrial areas. Therefore, the measuring instruments are so diverse, these are GOST 2475-88 measurement wires, micrometers, mixer, calibration and curvature rulers, pedometers, protractors, thickness gauges, hardness testers, microscopes, calipers, etc.
