Green tariff. How to sell your electricity to the state from a home solar station

Reconomica presents a summary article on solar energy. An assessment of such a step as the installation of your station, an assessment of the advantages of the station, as well as information on the sale of electricity. Is it beneficial or not?

Relatively recently, such a concept as “green tariff” appeared in Ukraine. In short, this is an incentive measure from the state to all individuals who want to make a real financial contribution to the environment. We asked one of the first users of the system in Ukraine to tell us how it works in practice. By the way, a similar bill is planned to be adopted in Russia before the end of 2018, so wind it up!

Hello, my name is Victoria. I have long been pestered by the question of the possibility of any savings on tariffs, the growth of which has no limit. The transition to more economical lighting, as well as the use of energy-efficient household appliances, did not bring any significant changes. And now, after some time, I found the most optimal way out of the situation.

Alternative energy and how to make money on it

In our time, this issue is very relevant, since electricity tariffs are extremely high and, apparently, they do not intend to decrease. You have most likely heard the concept of “Alternative Energy”. This expression has several explanations, but they are all closely related to such things:

  • Energy of sun
  • Wind energy
  • water energy
  • earth energy

This diagram clearly demonstrates the elements of a solar station

Solar energy in everyday life

Today I will tell you about one of these, namely, solar energy.
For quite a long time there have been solar panels that receive the sun's rays and generate them into electricity using a converter. This pairing of batteries and converter is called a solar station.
Let's take a look at my example. I have an average electricity consumption - about 2 kW per hour. Therefore, I need a solar station with a capacity of 2 kW, which cost me a substantial amount - $ 1800. Solar panels were installed on the roof, and the converter was installed inside the house.

So, it's been about four years since the purchase of the station, and it has already fully paid off my investment in the past. Ask how?

"Green tariff" - what is it and how to connect to it

In our country, there is such a thing as “ Green tariff”(Law of 04.06.2015 No. 514-VIII), which allows you to sell your personal electricity generated by your solar or wind power plant. For example, my profit for three years from such a station was more than $1,720!

The process of registration of the "Green tariff" is extremely simple. You just need to apply for its connection to your O bl energy and wait a bit for it to be approved. The whole process took me about 2 weeks.

The state in such things itself goes to meet you! After all, their interest in installing a solar station on your site is also present. With each solar station installed in our country and any other alternative energy source, we unload power plants.

Today it is possible to sell electricity for 0.18 Euro per 1 kW . Obviously, earnings on it are tied to the Euro rate, and this is a big plus. The adoption of the law on the "green tariff" is the decision of the World Convention, so the reliability in this project lies on the shoulders of the whole of Europe.
But still there are some restrictions when connecting the "Green tariff". Individuals can apply for a "Green Tariff" only on condition that the power plant capacity will be no more than 30 kW. And I would also like to note that the income received from the sale of energy is taxed at a rate of 15%

If for 1 kW the declared amount is 0.18 Euro, then with taxes it will be 0.15 Euro.

Another important factor is the clauses prescribed in our law on the annual decrease in income from the sale of our electricity. To date, the amount of as much as 0.18 Euro is very high and encourages people to switch to alternative energy sources, albeit with a pronounced commercial hint. However, there is one circumstance regarding the reduction of the amount on which you receive profit from the sale, namely:

When you connect the "Green Tariff", you enter into an agreement with the state for as long as 13 years, without any changes in the rate at which you receive money for the sold electricity. In other words, by installing a solar station today, you will provide yourself with a profit of 0.18 Euro for each kW sold, right up to 2030!

There are also a couple of nuances when connecting the "Green Tariff".

  1. The allocated power to your house should correspond to the power of the station you want to install.
  2. Connecting the "Green Tariff" requires the purchase and installation of a special meter that will track every kW of electricity you sell, and Oblenergos will be able to track this. No one else will come to you and take readings from your meter, which, without a doubt, is another advantage.

Solar panels do not damage the appearance of the building, on the contrary, they make the architecture futuristic

Solar panels - is it a good investment?

I learned about this way of earning on the Internet. I didn’t particularly notice such a trend in my environment, and indeed, few people have heard of solar panels. Well, today two of my friends are planning to make the same installation, one of which is even in the process of preparing all the necessary documents. I think you will agree that the purchase of your solar power plant is one of the most profitable investments today, which in the future can pay off more than once, because solar panels have a lifespan of over 25 years!

Already today, on private houses, one can find not only roofs covered with solar panels, but even entire fields. Undoubtedly, solar energy is beginning to develop very rapidly in our country, while in Europe every house equipped with its own solar power plant is an absolute norm, which naturally affects the environment, as well as the ecology in general. After all, the constant consumption of the resources of our planet carries with it negative consequences that alternative energy sources come to our aid. Undoubtedly, an innovative and environmentally friendly future is behind this.

Should I bother with installing solar panels and connecting the “green tariff”?

In the end, I would like to say that this method is quite effective. Most people install solar stations solely for profit on the "Green Tariff". Hectares sown with solar panels is not only a good investment, but also a whole business that costs tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars. But the result, as you already understand, is worth the money.
