How to finish the concrete ring of the well. Self-finishing the well: practical advice. Photo gallery: original ideas for decorative wells

The well can rightfully be called a symbol of civilization. Since the emergence of hydraulic structures, people have abandoned the nomadic way of life, moved to a sedentary one. There was a source of water at each local area. But if earlier it was used directly for household needs, now it is also used for decorative purposes, decorating the overall design of a manor house, a private house.

Design features

The finishing of the structure is chosen depending on the style of the entire site and must be combined with the exterior of the main building. It can be made of the following materials: stone savage, wood, concrete, plastic, brick, plaster, using other raw materials. The main thing is that the building material is durable, does not deteriorate from temperature changes.

When considering the design of the structure, attention should be paid to the need for periodic maintenance of the crinkle, namely, cleaning and disinfection. Accordingly, access to the head should be made free, and the decorative elements should not interfere with the implementation of auxiliary work.

Ordinary facing materials can look rather dull, so often the wells are painted with multi-colored paints, decorative painting is done, which can be freely done independently, even in the absence of pictorial talents, it is enough to use stencils. In addition to painting, you can use floristry, create a flower arrangement around.

The structure can be used for water extraction or for decorative purposes.

If a practical application is being considered, then it is necessary to protect it from getting inside of sewage, for this the head is made higher, a blind area is poured around, it is covered or a roof is installed.

Structures can be used both for receiving water and for removing it, they are called infiltration and absorbing, respectively. These are depressions in the ground that reach the aquifer. They can go several hundred meters deep (artesian wells). Depending on the type of soil, the required volume of extracted water, the depth of its occurrence, landscape, as well as technical capabilities you can equip key, log, bore wells. There are also decorative models that are mainly used for aesthetic enjoyment. Let's consider in detail the existing types:

  1. Key. Construction work does not take much time, material costs are minimal. The main condition is the presence of a source on the surface. For ascending springs that come to the surface due to a violation of the integrity of watertight rocks, a concreted round or square platform is made, deepened by 20 cm. If the key is descending, then a filter is additionally installed.
  2. Mine. It is being built on condition that the waters are at a depth of up to 25 meters. It consists of a head, a shaft, a water intake level. Depending on the type of the last of the listed parts, all designs are divided into incomplete, complete, perfect with a sump.
  3. Tubular. Both minor and deep wells are drilled. Represents interconnected metal pipes... A filter is installed below, a hand pump on top. For shallow wells, pipes of the same diameter are used. Shallow wells are also called Abyssinian, Nortonian, deep-water - artesian.
  4. Decorative. They are used to decorate the site, as well as to mask engineering communications, in isolated cases - as a well with drinking water. They can be additionally decorated with a roof on which ampelous plants are planted.

Well design and functions

  1. Before starting the construction of a structure, it is necessary to draw up a project. You can do it yourself, download it from the Internet. It consists of several stages: General provisions. Includes engineering and geological data, technical indicators, goals pursued. At this stage, it is decided what function the structure will perform:
  • If it acts only as a decor, then it remains to choose a suitable place for installation, to decide on the materials for construction, cladding.
  • For the creep, which will be used for drainage, hydrogeological studies of the soil are carried out. If it is water-absorbing, filter models are installed, where moisture is poorly absorbed - accumulative.
  • Wells serving as a source of water (water supply option) also require preliminary studies related to determining the depth of the aquifer.
    2. The graphic part. It consists of drawings of the main units, the appearance of the building, a roof plan, if any, recommendations for finishing, the technologies used, the location of lighting fixtures, electrical outlets (socket, light bulb).
    3. Specification. It includes materials and equipment used for construction.

Tips and Precautions for DIY Well Construction

Construction is fraught with danger, since when digging a mine, a person is in a confined, enclosed space. Having decided to build a structure with your own hands, you should adhere to certain safety rules, which boil down to the following points:

  1. The construction site where the work will be carried out is fenced off. Then it is cleared of unnecessary elements that can accidentally get into the mine. It is forbidden to place heavy devices near the recess. The load they create on the soil can lead to rock collapse.
  2. Sometimes hazardous gases enter the mine, in which case forced ventilation is installed. To check for foreign matter, an open fire source is lowered down.
  3. When deepening, there is a lack of natural light, so it is necessary to have additional light sources, for example, a flashlight installed on a helmet, a powerful searchlight aimed at the bottom of the dug hole.
  4. It is imperative to provide funds individual protection- boots, gloves, suits, helmets.
  5. An observer must always be present near the mine, who, in the event of an emergency, takes measures to urgently raise workers.
  6. As it deepens, the walls of the mine are periodically strengthened.
  7. Before starting work, the mechanisms used are checked for serviceability.

There are many popular ways in which a choice is made. You can use dowsing, use a dowsing frame, look around and find a swarm of insects that hover over the source. However, in order to correctly determine the very place, it is enough to adhere to certain rules:

  • The building should not interfere with the use of other objects, for example, flower beds, finished or planned buildings, garden paths.
  • On the site, you should choose the most elevated place, this will avoid the ingress of rainwater and soil saturated with it.
  • The lowest place must be planned for a compost pit, septic tanks, treatment facilities.
  • The distance from the well to the cesspool should be taken into account, it is more than 15 meters.
  • The structure should be located close to the house, but not too close, the minimum distance exceeds 8 meters.

It is necessary to make a choice on your own, especially if specialists are hired to carry out the work, who, not only without a difference where to dig, the main thing for them is how to do it easier, so they will recommend the place where the soil is softer.

Choice of finishing materials

The work can be done using different building materials. Any of the options chosen has its positive and negative qualities. In order not to be mistaken, to make the right decision, it is necessary to evaluate the components used.

Wood

Wood can be called a classic material, it is suitable both for the decoration of mines and as a basis for the head, well pillars, and roofing. With its help, decorative finishing is carried out, for example, carving, painting, complemented by a drawing, image.

Wood cladding has its own characteristics:

  • The material is inexpensive. It can be found on the market, in hardware stores, on sawmills.
  • Raw materials are malleable to processing. Allows you to create beautiful structures that harmoniously fit into the overall style of the cottage. There is a tool for work in almost every home.
  • For landscaping, you can use finished finishing products, for example, imitation of timber (false), lining, blockhouse. Such components can significantly reduce the time spent on work and get excellent results.
  • The structure can be additionally decorated with original carved elements.
  • It is better to install a roof above the mine, which will protect the depression from precipitation, leaves, and other foreign objects. Moreover, it is a great decorative element.

Decorating the well with wood is a great option. However, the building material has two important drawbacks - poor resistance to a humid environment, it is a good food source for pests. Therefore, before using raw materials for facing, it must be treated with special varnishes, antiseptics.

Brick and its varieties

There are several types of such building materials - silicate, ceramic, raw. You can decorate the structure with any of the listed ones. For example, a red brick will give the object bright color, will look good on summer cottage... A versatile material is the fired clay version. It can be used either to cover the finished head or to build it completely.

For the construction of a brick krynitsa or its sheathing, you must adhere to certain rules:

  • The arrangement is made only from raw materials that have a full-bodied structure.
  • The material absorbs moisture, so the surface must be periodically treated with water-resistant varnishes. Apply a layer of plaster, when it dries, rub in additional cement.
  • For work, it is advisable to use the same building material with which the house is lined from the outside.
  • The masonry is both round and square. For the first option, less raw material is used.
  • The width of the masonry should not exceed two bricks (25 cm).

Stone

Stone designs are popular. Decorating a structure with such material is much more expensive than the options considered. But the result is worth it. The result is a stylish structure with increased wear resistance.

The main characteristics of such a cladding are as follows:

  • For work, you can use both natural and artificial stone.
  • Small rounded stones and large cobblestones are used for decoration.
  • The material is used for finishing the mine and the head.
  • If the work is done with high quality, the building will last for more than a decade.
  • To emphasize the structure, you can lay out a path from the same building material to it, install a roof covered with metal tiles on top.

Finishing materials and their combination methods

In addition to the listed options, you can use plastic or siding. The registration is done quickly enough. Looks good porcelain stoneware or ceramic tile... It can be smooth or rough, matte or glazed, antique. Separately, you can highlight the clinker tile, consisting of fired shale clay. Over the years, this material does not change the external structure, is resistant to moisture, and resembles brickwork.

If you choose the option of conventional painting and plastering of the structure, then you do not need to use wood, brick or stone for cladding. It is enough to clean the surface of the concrete ring, plaster it, cover with a layer of primer, paint. Also, plaster is often used for brick buildings, and pure painting for wooden ones.

Metal and forged items are mainly used for uprights and roofing. Combined structures are often made, for example, barrel heads made of wooden slats, tied with metal rings.

Design and style

Landscaping is a composition of all the elements located on the site, be it engineering, biological or cultural aspect. Each path, flower garden, buildings must correspond to a certain style. Therefore, the finishing of the well should not contradict the general appearance of the site.

There are many current design options for a well. It all depends on the design style, for example:

  • Russian. It is a wooden blockhouse, where a manual gate is used as a lifting mechanism. From above it usually has a roof covered with wood shingles. The surface has carved decorations and paintings.
  • Medieval. The cladding is made of natural stone (cobblestone, granite). Roof supports are made of metal, complemented by forged elements. The roof is in the form of a tent, dome, and has a metal covering.
  • Oriental. Combines wood and stone. The highlight is the roof, which has a non-standard look, typical of Hindu, Chinese pagodas. For greater effect, a pond or a decorative waterfall is arranged nearby.
  • Modern. It is mainly used for decorative buildings that imitate different structures in a smaller version, for example, a mill, a tower.
  • Nautical. Decorate with ropes that wrap around the outer surface of the base. The handle of the gate is changed to the steering wheel, the bucket - to the barrel. Nearby are rounded fragments of rocks, shells, an anchor.
  • Alpine. A characteristic feature is the absence of racks. The design is due to the fact that the source was used in mountainous conditions. The lower part is faced with stone, and the roof with wood.

A well built in the country or near the house is a demanded structure. However, the concrete ring emerging from the ground has an unfinished appearance and does not look aesthetically pleasing enough. In addition, water from open structures is only suitable for irrigation. The situation will be saved by the installation of the house. It protects the mine from all kinds of contamination and ensures safety, especially for small children. There can be two types - open, closed. The superstructure can be built with your own hands. For clarity, consider a master class in which the procedure for building a house with a gable roof is described in stages:

  • The first step is to prepare the base around the shaft. We remove part of the soil to a depth of 20 - 30 cm, fill in a layer of rubble, tamp it.
  • For round heads we measure the diameter, for square heads we measure the width. These data will allow you to calculate the dimensions of the manufactured structure.
  • In the next step, we make the frame. To do this, it is enough to use a bar with dimensions of 5x10 cm.
  • Cut off two more beams, the length of which is half from the side of the frame. We fasten them perpendicularly on two parallel beams of the frame in the middle. At the top we connect with a skate.
  • We proceed with the installation of the rafters. To do this, the upper ends of the uprights are cut on both sides at an angle of 45%.
  • From the side of the door, we attach a board with a width of more than 40 cm to the frame, it will serve as the basis for installing a bucket.
  • We mount the finished structure on concrete rings, securing it with bolts.
  • We install the gate, attach the door to the frame.
  • We sheathe the protruding part of the shaft and the house itself with boards.
  • At the final stage, you can decorate the structure.

How to build a canopy for a well

These designs are not limited. They can be round or rectangular, have one or more slopes. A canopy is installed directly on the house or in the ground, concrete, brick, and other bases. So, in order to build such an add-on, we will analyze in detail the following step-by-step master class:

  • Preparing the base. The pillars can be installed on a columnar, strip, monolithic foundation. Since the upper part is lightweight, strict requirements are not imposed on the base, and two shaped pipes or rounded logs.
  • After installing the supporting pillars, professional pipes in their upper part, you can put a finished metal roof, build a frame with your own hands. To do this, in the upper part, we fasten the boards of the supporting strapping to the vertical posts.
  • We start assembling the roof truss. It is better to collect it on the ground, install it ready-made.
  • After installation, we sheathe the truss with an OSB board.
  • We cover the roof with metal tiles, corrugated board, and other materials.
  • Sew up the gables with clapboard, plastic.

On a suburban area, the design of the well plays an important role, but here it all depends on the type of construction. There are wells that must be hidden from view.

What types are subject to external design

As a rule, only wells that serve for water supply in a suburban area are subject to external arrangement.

Types of water supply wells:

  • Mine.
  • Pipe.

Both this and this type of construction must be arranged outside. For a pipe well only, it is sufficient to install a column with various decorative elements. But with a mine well you will have to suffer a little.

Methods for external design of a mine water well

A shaft well is manufactured:

  • From .
  • Plastic rings.
  • Ready-made polymer structures.

Note. Basically, wells made of concrete rings are subject to finishing. This material can be installed both inside the structure and outside (one ring is placed on the ground surface for a more convenient arrangement of the structure).

How to make a well made of concrete rings?

On this moment there are several design options for such a well:

  • Use of ready-made houses.
  • Build houses yourself.
  • Applying a roof or cover to a structure.
  • Ready-made houses, which are installed on the upper base of the well and securely fixed on it, are made of various materials and can have different sizes.

Note. Such structures can only be placed on a flat base and if there is no reinforced concrete ring on the surface of the soil.

  • You can build such a house on the basis of an installed reinforced concrete ring and finish it or completely rebuild the house.
  • Some use decorative roofs on finished reinforced concrete rings or.

All of these methods are quite varied in their application and choice of materials.

Basic styles in the design of wells

People who travel a lot must have noticed that every part of the world, if not every country, has its own architecture, its own concepts of beauty and harmony. This also applies to such small forms as wells. Let's also "travel".

Russian village style

Everyone must have seen a Russian well: it is a wooden blockhouse with a brace and a canopy, or with a so-called "crane".

  • The blockhouse is most often log, quadrangular, with linking corners without a remainder or with a remainder (see).

  • If you want to give the well more expressiveness, it can be cut into five, six or eight corners using a rounded log or timber - this way it looks more neat and decorative.

  • Such a blockhouse can be placed around, and cover the space between it and the wooden "caftan" with small pebbles or expanded clay. And you can make an imitation by sheathing the frame around the perimeter with a blockhouse or clapboard.

This is the basis for the design of a well in the Russian style. Such expressive ethnic elements as carved pillars supporting the roof, openwork cornice, shingle or straw roofing, a cart wheel instead of the handle of a lifting drum, a wooden tub instead of a bucket will give it a decorative effect.

But such decor can be very expensive, like any handmade, besides, you still have to manage to find a master. If you want to do everything yourself, you can do with an imitation of a log house, cover the roof with modern materials (corrugated board, polycarbonate, metal or soft tiles), and decorate the overhangs with strips with a pattern cut with a jigsaw.

Advice. In order to blend well with other structures, the roof is best made of the same material and color as their roof.

Alpine style

Today it is very fashionable to decorate your homes and estates in the style of an Alpine chalet. If we are talking about the design of the well, then it is done without any racks supporting the canopy at all: a roof closed on all sides (see) with a door in the slope is installed directly on the head.

For reference. This design is explained by the mountainous operating conditions of the source. A stone that has rolled down a mountain, a fallen tree, or an avalanche can damage the tall stands, so they just don't.

At decorative finishing the lower concrete part of the well is most often lined with natural stone. Or, again, they use imitation: they cover the ring with facade plaster and "draw" stones on it, pressing the fresh solution with a finger or a stick. After drying, the "seams" can be highlighted by painting with paint.

East well

It is also a very popular trend in the design of not only interiors, but also exteriors - that is, the facades of houses and territories adjacent to it. Perhaps the inhabitants of the middle lane are attracted by the exotic. Be that as it may, different options for finishing the wells are possible, since the "oriental" style is a very general name.

So:

  • Dastarkhan in the shade of trees next to a simple stone or brick well without any decorations and unnecessary structures - and you find yourself in Central Asia. Of course, using only a rope with a bucket is very inconvenient and difficult, so this design style will be appropriate in two cases: if the well is equipped with a pump with a hidden water supply system, or if it is decorative.

  • The most expressive element of a Japanese well- a large graceful roof with characteristic curves on massive square-section supports. While the head itself does not need ornaments. It can be either stone or wooden, but it does not draw attention to itself. The best addition to it is a rock garden. But you can also get by with a blind area of large pebbles.

  • Chinese architecture is very similar to Japanese... But the presence of all kinds of dragons - painted or carved from wood - even among amateurs leaves no doubt about their belonging.

Well in medieval and nautical style

A building made in medieval style can be decorated with natural stone, laid out with cobblestones, or put granite slabs around.

Medieval style decoration

So:

  • The roof can be made in the form of an iron dome. The minimalism of the building will make it quite modern, and the wrought-iron pillars with thermoplastic on the roof will complement the modern flavor. You don't need to come up with anything special, it is important that everything looks beautiful and harmonious on your personal plot.
  • It can also be done in a simple nautical style. To do this, you just need to wind a thick rope around the pillars of the well. And change the standard bucket for a beer barrel. Also, the swing handle can be designed in the form of a steering wheel. Anchor, sea shells, stones will be a great addition to the color.
  • A variety of planted green spaces alternating with paved stone, small stream, illuminated walkway can create a calming effect and will be beneficial for a relaxing evening getaway.

Small houses

Ready-made houses represent a simple design of wells.

They are manufactured:

  • Made of wood.
  • Metal (light alloy or thin sheet metal).
  • Plastic, corrugated board or siding based on a wooden (metal) frame.

Used as a roof:

  • Roofing material.
  • Decking.
  • Wood.
  • Metal tiles.
  • Polycarbonate and so on.

Note. Since the finished houses can be of different sizes and have different prices, it is not at all difficult to choose the best option for decorating a well.

Photo of the house

Making a well with your own hands, namely the construction of a house, is also not particularly difficult.

There are two options for manufacturing a structure:

  • Based on a reinforced concrete ring.
  • Construction of the walls of the structure yourself.

Note. In order to make a house out of an installed concrete ring, it is enough to complete its external design and use a decorative roof or cover.

Building a house for a well with homemade walls is not so difficult.

Use for this:

  • Brick (building or facing).

Advice. The choice of the type of brick depends on the weight of the roof or cover structure and which additional elements will be located else. A large weight can withstand a building brick.

  • Foam blocks.
  • Aerated concrete.
  • Wooden boards.
  • Rounded or profiled timber.

Note. Some people use metal barrels without a bottom for the external arrangement of a water supply well, which are installed on reinforced concrete rings and fixed to them with brackets and fasteners.

It is worth considering that additional finishing, like concrete rings, requires:

  • Building bricks.
  • Foam concrete.
  • Aerated concrete.

Roofs or covers for houses in this case can be made from any modern material that is used as roofing. Bituminous shingles are often used.

Materials for exterior decoration of the walls of the house

You can arrange a reinforced concrete well using:

  • Stone (decorative or natural).
  • Plastic or siding.
  • Decking.
  • Porcelain stoneware or simple ceramic mosaic and so on.
  • Stone finishing has been used for a long time. Decorative and artificial stones are mounted in the same way.
  • Siding or plastic are also similar in their surface mount and have similar technical characteristics.
  • Decking and any other metal sheets are mounted only on a special frame.
  • Ceramic tiles and porcelain stoneware, which is one of its types, are also well suited for exterior decoration.

Advice.
To decorate the structure of a house or a simple reinforced concrete ring from the outside, it is worth giving preference to practical and only moisture-resistant materials. This is due to the fact that outside there are different weather and climatic conditions and a large number of finishes under various influences and high air humidity change their structure and begin to deform.

Also, when choosing a material, it is worth considering the structure of the roof so that it matches the style of the well in design.

Stone finishing of the walls of the house

Facing with a stone (see) of this type of structure looks quite interesting in a suburban area.

So:

  • Both natural and artificial stone are used for such work.
  • They are similar in their properties, but differ in weight.
  • Also, the price for each type of such material is different.
  • Natural stone is considered the heaviest, and in some cases, surface reinforcement will be required for its installation.

Stone finish properties:

  • Practicality and durability.
  • Durability and reliability.
  • Moisture resistance and inability to perceive external influences of climatic and weather phenomena.
  • Does not burn or char from high temperatures.

The only drawback is that this type of finish is quite cold and the source can freeze in severe frost.

Advice. In this case, it is worthwhile to insulate the structure from the outside and build a sealed cover.

If decorative rock is mounted on the surface, then the natural one can be laid out, I form the dimensions and shape of the structure.

To install the stone you will need:

  • Adhesive mortar, which is intended for exterior decoration or concrete mortar with special additives.
  • A level or rule that will allow you to smoothly make the installation of each element of decoration.
  • A backcutter for cutting artificial stone and a chisel with a hammer for resizing the natural agglomerate.

Note. Natural stone has a denser structure and it is impossible to cut it with a tile cutter.

  • Spatula for applying adhesive solutions to the surface.
  • Primer for priming the surface before installation.
  • Plumb lines for a flat finish.
  • Tape measure for accurate measurement of the required size.

Advice. If the shape of the structure is square, then finishing is performed from each corner of the structure. If it is even, then there may be problems with fixing the material to the surface. In this case, it is best to give preference to small stones that fall freely.

Plastic or siding. Its methods of installation on the outer walls of the well

These materials are also considered to be a common outside well decoration. Do-it-yourself mine well design is done with their help quite quickly and easily.

Let's take a closer look:

  • Siding or plastic is produced in sheets or in strips.
  • On their surface, they can have various imitations of other finishing materials.
  • The surface itself can be smooth, structural, rough, matte, glossy, and so on.
  • The materials have gained great popularity due to their economy and practicality.
  • They are impermeable to air and moisture.
  • They do not burn or absorb dirt.
  • You can clean them with a simple rag.

It is worth considering:

  • Installation of siding or plastic is carried out only on the frame.
  • It can be made of wood or metal.
  • You can also mount sheets of material on the surface with an adhesive solution. But, it all depends on the quality of the surface.

To work from the tool you will need:

  • Perforator and drill.
  • Building level.
  • Jigsaw for cutting wooden frame planks. A saw can be used.
  • Self-tapping screws and dowels.
  • Construction stapler.

From the material you will need:

  • Strips or panels of material.
  • Starting guides for mounting panels or lining.
  • Sealant for making the joints of the material tight.
  • External corners made of plastic or siding if the structure is rectangular.

Watching the video in this article will make it possible to make the installation of such materials on the well without much difficulty.

Porcelain stoneware or ceramic tiles for finishing the well

Ceramics have been used for outdoor decoration for many years. Its main subspecies is porcelain stoneware. They have similar properties, only the strength of the latter is several times higher.

Do-it-yourself installation of material, for this you will need:

  • Make a flat surface of the outer walls of the well.
  • Prepare and clean them.
  • Prime the surface.

From tools:

  • Building level or plumb line.
  • Roulette.
  • Putty knife.
  • Ceramic adhesive or simple concrete mortar.

The final step will be the use of decorative putty, which allows you to mask the seams of the masonry. At the moment, there is a large assortment of such funds.

Advice. If the house for the well is based on a reinforced concrete ring that has a round shape, then it is better to use a ceramic mosaic.

The surface of the material can be:

  • Smooth or structured.
  • Glazed or matte.
  • Rough or semi-antique and so on.

It will not be difficult to choose the best design option with tiles. Many people, when asked how to decorate a well beautifully and at the same time not spend a lot of time and money, answer that they cannot find better ceramic or porcelain tiles. These materials create a unique design for any design.

Decorative wells

If you have a well or a house on your site connected to a centralized water supply, this does not mean that the well, as an element of landscape design, must be abandoned. Quite the opposite: you will have even more opportunities for its design, since you are not limited by its location, size, shape, safety, etc.

It can be miniature or made in full size. Round and square. In general, any. After all, it is not needed for the extraction of water, but only for decoration.

All the styles and design methods described above are applicable to these small architectural forms, plus you can decorate it with flowers, climbing plants, stones, garden figurines. Or a stork's nest. Without wasting unnecessary words, we suggest you look at examples.

Flower beds around the well

The structure looks very nice, surrounded by densely planted bright and colorful flowers. This is a difficult task that requires a lot of work, but the effect is obvious.

So:

  • Both the roof of the well and its base, as well as the entire surrounding space, can become a flower garden. Although flowers in pots can be hung, as well as placed around or beautifully placed on its walls.
Planting flowers is better than those varieties that bloom all the time, or alternate flowering - when some flowers have already faded, others bloom to replace them.
  • For the integrity of the image of the entire composition, sand, gravel, pebbles or natural stones... It turns out an unusual area of several levels or a site that looks like an alpine slide.

At the summer cottage, in addition to the main water supply, there should be an autonomous one. A simple option is to install a well. However, even such a building can be turned into a decoration of the site - this requires a full-fledged finish of the well.

Material requirements

Since the well is located on the street, the finishing material must have the following properties:

  • frost resistance - varieties of wood and stone must withstand temperature changes;
  • wear resistance - the material must be resistant to mechanical damage;
  • moisture resistance.

Types of finishing a well in the country

Brick, wood, stone, plaster and painting are used as decor. As a budget option, the well is framed with flowers. In addition, it is necessary to take into account the type of construction - closed or open. Any well must have a foundation-blind area made of concrete or stone. Each of the finishes has its own nuances.

Brick

It is used for laying around the walls of the well. The advantage is that any type of brick can be taken for cladding, silicate white or red is common. Ceramic brick cladding will last for a long time, but its main drawback is its high cost.

To increase the service life, the brick must be treated with moisture-resistant compounds in order to avoid destruction of the material, and the masonry itself must be additionally cemented and plastered.

The simplest masonry is rectangular; a well with round or polygonal masonry will also look aesthetically pleasing. In this case, the hitching of subsequent rows should be performed with a slight offset relative to the previous ones.

Wood

This type of cladding is not inferior in strength to brick and has the following advantages:

  • strength;
  • ease of processing;
  • aesthetics.

In addition, the walls can be carved - the design will look more interesting.

Before work, the wood should be treated with antiseptic and moisture-resistant compounds to prevent damage to the material by rot and harmful insects. It is recommended to install roof-sheds over the mines - they will protect the water from debris and precipitation and will complement the structure.

The following are considered as finishing:

  • rounded log;
  • profiled timber;
  • edged board;
  • croaker.

The most expensive (but also the highest quality) material is considered to be logs, but after good processing, both the timber and the board will last as long as the log trim. The choice of this or that lumber will depend on the design of the well - for example, a simple rectangular structure can be sheathed with a board, and to build a full-fledged house in the Russian style, you will need a log.

In some cases, cladding or clapboard or siding may be suitable; for such a sheathing, a frame is installed on which the finishing material will be attached.

Stone

A finishing stone is far from a budget option, and this applies to both natural and artificial materials, but it is worth it: the view of the well will be impressive. In a house with a stone cladding, it is also advisable to overlay a well with a stone. A simple option is large pebbles, sandstone, even rubble stone or imitation, cobblestones of different sizes and shades.

Flowers

Flowers decorate the building, hiding flaws. So, the budget option is to plant perennial plants weaving around the walls, which will hide the concrete walls. At the foot of the well, as a frame, you can arrange flowerpots with annual primroses.

Some summer residents install additional architectural elements: slides, a roof over the mine, ledges on the walls of the well. At the top of the roof, thin ropes are fixed, along which plants are woven, stands are placed around the well - in the summertime the structure will be buried in flowers.

By scattering soil, sand or pebbles in unequal layers, you can build an alpine slide. However, don't forget about access to water.

Plastering and painting

These works are final: if the well is lined with brick or stone, the seams between the individual elements must be cemented, if the well walls are sheathed with wood, it is recommended to varnish the finish.

If the well is decorated with flowers, then the concrete rings are plastered and painted in the desired color.

Plastering also has its own nuances:

  1. The cement mortar is applied from the top row.
  2. To level the surface, beacons are installed on the entire row. After applying the solution, the beacons are moved to the lower strips.
  3. After plastering, they start painting using special paint mixtures for concrete.

When painting wooden surfaces, adhere to the following recommendations:

  1. Before applying paint, the wood is impregnated with an antiseptic.
  2. Then a primer is applied to the wood to set the paint to the surface.
  3. After the primer has dried, the walls are painted in the selected color or varnished if it is necessary to preserve the natural color of the wood cladding - for example, for well log cabins.

What material is better to choose

The appearance of the finished structure should be in harmony with the overall design of the architecture on the site. So, for country house a well with brick trim should be made of brick, and with a wooden one - with lining of lining, edged boards or timber. You can even build a semblance of a log house - the main thing is that the architecture of the finished well echoes the house.

For houses made of bricks with stone finishing of the foundation, the well is lined with cobblestones or artificial stone and can be additionally decorated with flower pots.

In addition to the classic cladding techniques (brick, stone, wood, painting), you can create a whole design structure using various styles:

  • chalet;
  • rustic;
  • Oriental.

Chalet style

This design involves the use of stone. An inexpensive option is an artificial stone with an imitation of the same type as a finishing stone for a home. To complete the landscape, you can lay out a path from the house to the well.

Country style

This is the most common design, consisting of a shaft, a brace and a canopy. It has the shape of a log house, can be laid out in the form of a rectangle or a five-, six- and octagon, with linking corners with and without the remainder.

When lining a concrete well with wood, it is recommended to leave a gap between the finish and the rings, which is subsequently covered with crushed stone, pebbles of fine fractions or expanded clay and serves as an additional insulation.

Additional decorative elements are suitable for such a design:

  • carved cornice and roof posts;
  • shingle roof;
  • a tub with a metal hoop instead of a simple bucket.

Also, instead of the usual lifting mechanism, you can install a cart wheel.

Oriental style

"East" well will be an excellent completion of the landscape design for a summer cottage, decorated in the same style.

An obligatory element of the structure is a pagoda made of a soft roof, with the ends of the corners raised upwards. In addition, the well must be equipped with a wooden bucket. And the carvings - in most cases the head of a dragon - are not only a roof decoration, but also drive away evil spirits, according to the teachings of feng shui.

Do-it-yourself closed house for a well

An ordinary well can only have a canopy fixed on support posts, but a mine with a full-fledged house will not just be a decoration of the site. It will help keep the water cool in the summer and keep it from freezing in the winter.

The house can be purchased already in a ready-made assembly, or you can build it yourself - there are many ideas for decoration.

How to make a fully enclosed frame

In most cases, wood is used, but there are also budget options - for example, creating a frame from metal profiles with plastic sheathing.

For work you will need:

  • galvanized metal profile;
  • cladding material (lining or vinyl siding) and roofs (in this case, it is corrugated board);
  • fasteners (bolts, screws);
  • screwdriver, building level;
  • hacksaw for metal;
  • metal marker.

The assembly steps are as follows:

  1. Around the well ring, the soil should be leveled, fine crushed stone is poured onto it to a layer height of 40-50 mm, carefully compacted and well spilled with water - this will be the foundation of the house.
  2. 2 frames are made from the guide profile the same size- "floor" and "ceiling" of the house. The frames are connected with support posts at the corners from the same profile; to strengthen the structure, you can add stiffeners by fixing them diagonally. Finished construction should resemble a cube, the sides of which are fastened with additional posts from the profile.
  3. On the “ceiling” frame, the sidewalls of the guide profiles are cut and set at an angle to each other so that a triangle is formed, the “back” is not touched. The resulting triangles-pediments are connected by another profile, which will serve as the ridge of the roof. The height of the ridge is 200-300 mm more than human height, so that it is convenient to get water.
  4. A hole must be left on one of the roof slopes for access to water. Therefore on rafter system the frame is additionally attached under the door. The door itself can be made in the form of a manhole cover.

After installing the finished frame on the well, you need to sheathe it with siding or PVC panels with imitation of stone, brick or lining. And close the roof with a door with corrugated board with a plywood sheet backing. The door sits on hinges, a handle is screwed to it. The fasteners must be treated with an anti-corrosion compound.

Making a well ring with a stone with your own hands

Only a canopy can be placed over the well - it will protect the water from the ingress of debris, branches and leaves. However, in addition to the head, it is necessary to somehow decorate the mine itself. The simplest option is facing with stone, pebbles of the middle fraction, and even cobblestones. For pebbles, it is enough to knead the cement mortar; to support the cobblestones, additional reinforcement will be required using a mesh fixed around the walls of the well. Before use, the finishing material is soaked in water.

To prepare the solution, you will need store-bought tile glue and a dry mixture, after which you can start facing:

  1. The surface is cleaned from dust.
  2. The solution is applied to a small area with a thin layer and a finishing material is laid on it, after laying it out, the joints are quickly rubbed over until the solution is completely dry.
  3. After grouting, the solution is applied to the next area, and the whole procedure is repeated.

Work must be carried out with gloves. If a large cobblestone is used for finishing, then the concrete rings are reinforced from the outside - they are wrapped with a metal mesh, on which the solution is applied in a dense layer.

For cobblestones, a cement-sand mortar should be used, which includes:

  • bag of cement grade M500;
  • medium-grained sand;
  • tile adhesive.

The solution is mixed in proportions 1: 3: 1/3 (cement, sand, glue) and applied to the surface of the ring. Cobble-laying technology is the same as for pebbles. But before applying the mortar, the concrete surface must also be moistened for better adhesion to the lining.

Diy well in the country- an important component of the normal life of the owners. Many, of course, have a water supply system, but still not everyone has it, and the quality of water is often poor. In addition, the water pipes to the summer cottages do not supply water regularly and sometimes, the time without water can drag on for several weeks. But in the summer cottage there are plants and trees that need to be constantly watered, especially in warm weather. Therefore, no matter how it is better to equip an alternative source on your site, thanks to which you will not even think about water at all. Now you will have it always and on a regular basis.

As such an alternative source of water, it is quite suitable well in the country (photo)... There is water everywhere, the main thing is to find out the depth of their occurrence, the choice of a well, the depth of the well and other not unimportant factors will depend on this.

The well will not only provide you with a constant source of water, but it will supply you and your family with clean drinking water all year round. In addition, the well will perfectly complement and. Its design is not always a concrete block, which will not attract with its appearance. Today's technologies make it possible to turn an ordinary well into a real work of art.

As an example, you can design a well made of wood, which will perfectly overlap with. Wood is a natural and environmentally friendly material; when properly processed, it always looks elegant, expensive and attractive. A suburban area, decorated using a variety of wooden structures, will get even more elegance and beauty.

To make the well look even more attractive, you can also arrange a beautiful one next to it. Just imagine how beautiful it will look in the complex. In general, the design of the site must be given its due. After all, it is here that you will spend all your free time, and you will need such a summer cottage so that here you can completely relax from the bustle of the city, retire and enjoy the beauty of nature and clean air.

- it's not an easy matter, here you need to think over a lot of nuances so as not to spoil the overall picture. And in order for the site to always be in excellent condition, please you with its green, and bring long-awaited fruits, you need to field it and take care of it, accordingly, you definitely cannot do without a beautiful and high-quality personal well.

As we said earlier, even if there is access to the water supply, from additional source water is not worth giving up. So where to start well design in the country? First you need to determine the place where it would be best to equip the well. There are two ways to solve this problem: borehole and dowsing. Both methods are good and effective. Therefore, you need to choose only the one that suits you best by some criteria.

So let's start with dowsing. For this method, we need wire frames that are made of brass. You can do them yourself. We take a wire with a diameter of 2-3 mm, a length of half a meter and bend it at an angle of 90 degrees. You need to bend it in that place so that the length of the handle is equal to ten centimeters. We need two of these curved wires. We take a frame in each hand so that we can spin freely. In this position, we need to bypass our site. In the place where they twist and intersect, it will be seen that the water is located near the surface. It is in this one of these places that you need to spend well design in the country photo.

The well option will be much more expensive. They are arranged in those places where aquifers are possible. Alternatively, you can ask your neighbors. There is a great chance that at your summer cottage the water level will be the same.

There are also several popular statements by which you can determine the proximity of waters to the ground. The first version is that after the snow melts, there should be water in the basements of houses. The second version - sometimes impenetrable fog appears despite the fact that there are no reservoirs nearby. The third version is a fairly close location of reservoirs. In addition, there may be a large number of midges after the sun goes down, thick grass during drought, and moss.

Previously, people resorted to a different method for determining the location of waters. They took sheep's wool, washed it thoroughly and dried it. The top layer of sod was removed and wool was laid on this place, on top of which an egg was placed and covered with a clay pot. All this structure was covered with turf on top. The result should be visible already at dawn. If there are signs of dew, then there is water at a distance of three to seven meters from the surface. Otherwise, the water runs very deep and, accordingly, there are no signs of dew.

When choosing a place where the well will be located, you need to pay attention to the location of the sewage system, compost pit and toilet. From these places, the well must be placed as far as possible. If it is decorative well in the country, then where it will be located will not play a role.

Decorative wells are decorative for that, they do not perform the functions that are assigned to a real well. Usually, such designs are installed for beauty, to create something special with your own hands. For such a well, we don't even need to dig a hole, and look for the depth of underwater waters. A decorative well, of course, is good, but in our case we are talking about a real structure to obtain the required amount of water.

Almost all wells are built according to the same principle. Their design consists of three main elements: a water collector, a trunk and a head. The reservoir is sometimes also called a reservoir, judging by the name it is clear what functions are assigned to it (accumulation and storage of water). The trunk is needed in order to protect the well itself from shedding the soil. It can be made with both round and rectangular sections. But the upper part, which we see - the head, is necessary to protect the well from snow, dirt and rain, and also prevents freezing at temperatures below zero.

Many believe that if a pipe is drawn to the base, then it is quite possible to organize a good water supply in the country from a well... But in fact, a well is not the kind of construction to be at the heart of a whole water supply system. It is better for him to equip a well.

With the location and arrangement of the well, the issue has been resolved, now you need to figure out where the digging process begins and how it happens. The first thing that many builders recommend is to start equipping the well in the fall. This is due to the fact that the groundwater sinks, respectively, it will be easier to cope with the work, and it is easier to determine the exact depth. As for digging itself, unfortunately there is still no such device that will help to cope with this task faster and without much effort. As before, and now, digging is purely manual work. You can dig a hole yourself, or you can contact a specialized company for help. In this case well in the country price the final one will be more expensive, therefore, if you do not have extra money, try to master this task yourself.

For independent work, we need a shovel (with a short handle) and a tool for hard ground (in case one comes across one). In addition, we will need a ladder and a lighting fixture that can be adjusted (a good option for a lamp with an extension cord). At the same time, you cannot do without buckets and a device for pulling them out.

After a hole of the required size has been dug, we need to arrange a container for water and, of course, the shaft of the well. Concrete rings are perfect for the barrel. It is better if they are chamfered for joining, although this option will be more expensive than usual.

There are two options that you can use to create a structure for your structure. Let's start in order. One of the options involves digging a kind of mine the size of until the moment we stumble upon groundwater. This must be done very carefully, strictly adhering to safety precautions. If the soil crumbles heavily, it is better to go straight to the second method. If everything is going on as usual, we can continue to work. So, we put the rings on top of each other in the hole, after which we dig a couple of rings deep into the hole. If you want to get a rectangular well, it is worth stopping at monolithic walls. This technique is available for non-loose soils, it is more convenient and faster.

In the second option, the first ring is installed immediately after the pit reaches a depth of one meter. After that, we continue to dig a hole under the ring, under its weight it will gradually sink down by itself. When it becomes possible to lay the second ring, we fix it and then dig in and continue this way until we reach the groundwater. As for the rings, it is worth choosing as the first ring a design with a cone-shaped point or a metal knife, along the edge of which pins will be located.

Whatever one may say, there are seams between the rings, they must be repaired. To begin with, between the rings in the process we lay out tarred ropes or hemp, and cover it with cement mortar on top. Alternatively, you can use clay. This option is much more environmentally friendly, but at the same time it will not serve you for long.

From the moment the water begins to appear, we need to drip a couple more meters. The process is complex, so a mud pump is indispensable. Upon reaching the desired level, pour granite crushed stone to the bottom. On average, the thickness of such a layer should be 10 cm. Do not forget about the waterproofing of the upper rings.

The most difficult stage of work is over. Now we just have to equip the beautiful upper visible part of the well, and it will be completely ready for use. A well made of wood according to old traditions will look beautiful. But this is not the only option for action, everyone can independently decide on the appearance of their well. The device of a well is even a laborious task that takes time, but at the same time it is necessary, because without it you can forget about normal life at the summer cottage.
