Design of a small apartment of 30 sq. m in Khrushchev

1. Clear the passages

The space between rooms should be free. Do not block the corridors, there should be enough space for free movement and light penetration.

2. Get rid of furniture

Disclaimer - from unnecessary furniture. The ally of small apartments in Khrushchev is open space. Reduce the number of pieces of furniture that are rarely used, or replace them with more versatile designs.

3. Increase the amount of light

The more natural sunlight, the larger the room will appear. White reflects more light than dark colors, which is why it is the milky palette that is so often used when decorating small rooms. Use glossy surfaces, paintings in glass frames in dark areas of the room (they also reflect light).

The space in the Khrushchevs should be used to the maximum.

4. Place your bets on multifunctional furniture

If you're just picking out new furniture, look for modular designs that can serve multiple functions. For example, for a bedroom you can choose a bed with storage sections, an ottoman with a lifting lid where you can store cosmetics, and a folding table.

A small table is also perfect for the kitchen, which can be lowered against the wall if necessary. If you are hosting guests in the hall, then pay attention to the folding table, which at the same time can be used to work with a laptop.

Light laminate or linoleum will reflect more light, thereby visually enlarging the premises.

6. Add colorful textiles

If your small Khrushchev apartment is decorated in light neutral colors, colorful textiles will help add coziness. It is not necessary to choose bright fabrics. It is important to choose curtains, bedspreads, roller blinds that will be in harmony with the overall design. For example, the interior decoration in milky-coffee tones can be yellow or wine-colored curtains, in combination to which you can choose lampshades for lamps or furniture. Textiles are easy to replace, so it can be used to quickly and more cost-effectively (compared to renovating or buying new furniture) to update the interior.

7. Use the corridor

If possible, place an XXL wardrobe in the corridor (along one of the walls). It can have open and closed sections. Unload the room space if possible.

8. Hide the cistern

It can be built into the wall, which will give an additional 15 - 20 cm.

9. Child's bedroom

In a one-room apartment for a child, you can arrange a corner with a bed on the second level, and on the first, equip a play area with a small table, a chalk board on the wall, and bookshelves on one side of the structure.

10. Use small furniture

Bulky furniture in a one-room Khrushchev apartment will look ridiculous, as a result, the interior will seem disproportionate. An L-shaped sofa is perfect for a small living room. Moreover, it will be nice if a smaller part can be moved and placed where required.

11. Vertical storage - what the doctor ordered

In order to maximize the use of the area in the Khrushchev, order a wardrobe and racks to the very ceiling. Why leave space for dust to accumulate when you can store something there? If you are not planning on buying new furniture, take note of the usual baskets, which are easy to get out. They can be with or without lids.

12. Sliding door

To open an ordinary door, you need about 1 sq. m. The sliding door, which is equipped with wheels and hides in the wall, will allow you to use the room more efficiently.

13. Glass is an ally

mobile partitions. They are a good solution for dividing a room, allowing light to penetrate everywhere. With them, the design will look lighter and more spacious.

shower doors. Conventional curtains divide a small bathroom into two parts, while a glass partition is almost invisible. If you're worried about dripping water on your glass, you can opt for a frosted or patterned glass partition.

shelves and doors. Glass shelves and doors in shelves and niches can make heavy construction lighter. They are usually placed in the kitchen or living room to store utensils. By adding backlighting, you can make the design even more interesting.

14. Don't be afraid to use mirrors.

Place them at the end of the hallway, on one of the walls in your living room or kitchen. This will give more depth and increase the amount of natural light. If you are just ordering a wardrobe, pay attention to the models with mirrored doors.

15. “Built-in” shelving

If you have a lot of books or other items, use drywall to create a cabinet, which is then worth painting to match the walls. If necessary, skirting boards will help cover the base on the floor and ceiling.

Design ideas for a small kitchen in Khrushchev

16. Window seat

  • You can operate the window sill itself. For example, in the kitchen, instead of it, you can arrange a wide bar counter with comfortable high chairs. It will be convenient to eat here, and guests can be placed in the living room at a folding table, which will spend most of the time folded somewhere in the closet.
  • As a rule, radiators are located under the window, so there are not so many design options for this zone. There you can place a specially made small cabinet with doors, where you can store things that are not afraid of heat. Or you can order a countertop instead of a window sill, which will extend beyond its limits by 60 cm. Here you can arrange a workspace (if it comes to a living room).

17. Hide the technique

A large number of electronic devices in the room "eats up" the area, due to which the interior of a small Khrushchev apartment seems less harmonious. Kitchen appliances, including the refrigerator, are best hidden behind the front of the headset.

18. Pull-out sections

They are generally useful in the kitchen for storing spices, cereals, pots, or chemicals. They help to make great use of hard-to-reach places and keep the kitchen clean and tidy.

19.Use hooks and magnetic stripes

In the kitchen, the magnetic stripe is useful for vertical storage of knives. It is very convenient. The hooks are useful for storing small items and towels. They can be placed between hanging cabinets and a worktop or behind a door.

20. Use a balcony or loggia

You can expand the room with additional square meters, but if you do not plan to tear down the walls, then put things in order on the balcony. Set up a cozy corner there with a table and soft ottomans.

21. Make cabinets less visible

To do this, they must blend in with the walls, so built-in models are a great solution. It is also better to give up the usual pens and use the Push up system. Of course, this point is feasible only if you are just updating the furniture in the apartment and are looking for ways to visually increase the space.

22. Additional shelves

Additional storage areas can be arranged above the work table. Shelves and hanging boxes will help you organize your workspace. They can also be hung over the children's table.

23. Add light

One pendant light in a room is usually not enough. In the kitchen, you can additionally mount recessed spotlights and led strip at the desktop. In the living room-bedroom, you can add sconces to the walls or put a floor lamp next to the sofa.

24. Nursery for two children

If in a 1-room apartment Khrushchev needs to arrange a nursery for two children, a two-story bed will be a salvation. This will give the little ones more space to play. If the apartment has two rooms, then there is an additional option with two single-story beds, but make sure there is enough space for games and a work table.

25. Furniture on wheels

Shelves, poufs or armchairs on wheels are ideal for small apartments. They can be easily moved from side to side, freeing up space when needed.

26. Hang the TV

27. Replace the headboard

Instead of a padded headboard, you can arrange additional storage space.

28. Rule of symmetry

This rule makes the space seem more harmonious and holistic. Use it actively when decorating an interior in which every square meter counts.

Let your interior become more cozy and warm!

In the 60s of the last century, panel housing was massively built in the Soviet Union. Trying to fulfill the five-year plan, they saved both on building materials and on footage. But people were happy, because it was their own living space, not a communal apartment.

Any room can be made cozy, including a small one. To do this, you need to choose the style in which the room and the corresponding furniture will be renovated. Today we will focus on the design of "Khrushchev" buildings.

Features of the layout

Since the houses were erected as temporary housing, their operational period was only twenty-five years. The height of the ceilings in the houses of the first series was about 2.5 m, there were walk-through rooms and a combined bathroom.

In the updated series, the service life of the houses has been doubled. But the premises remained unchanged in size, the issue of sound insulation was not resolved either. Although it is worth noting that the height of the ceilings in some houses reached 2.7 m. High ceilings were found mainly in block-type houses.

In the houses of the Khrushchev era, there were four apartments on one floor, in total there were either four or five floors. The lift, of course, was not provided, since the housing was temporary, and the installation of the lift is an additional expense. The area of the kitchen in "Khrushchev" in all series is about six square meters. In such a kitchen, it is problematic to put large household appliances and organize a dining area. Therefore, the refrigerator was often placed in the living room, where household members dined and dined.

By the way, the living room area in a 1-room apartment is 18 sq. m. There is a storage room and a balcony. The total area of the apartment is 32 sq. m. For two-room apartments, it varies from 30 to 45 square meters. m, and for three-room apartments it is 55 sq. m. Bedrooms, like children, are small, on average about 7 square meters. m.

Apartments, rooms in which are located at the end, have increased comfort. With regards to redevelopment, such a room is the easiest to repair. It is possible to carry out repairs with the construction of an additional partition. Thanks to this, one large room can be divided into two parts.

Zoning

It would seem that what can be done from one room? In addition to sleeping space, some people also want to organize a recreation area, while someone wants to put furniture and at the same time the room should remain spacious. In this case, a special design technique comes to the rescue - zoning.

Zoning allows you to visually highlight a wall or corner using wallpaper. And if the size of the room allows, then partitions can also be erected, thus separating part of the room. There are the following types of partitions.

Screen

China is considered the birthplace of the screen; it is in this country that it has been popular for more than one century. This is not just an interior detail, but also an easy-to-install partition that can separate the bed from the main room. The screen is suitable for any design and interior, it can also be installed in a city apartment.

The small room in which the screen is installed can be divided into a work area and a recreation area. Thanks to this decision, the person leading night image life, will not interfere with vacationing households. The screen is easy to assemble, which means that it can be installed only at the right time. And the rest of the time, the room will remain spacious.

The screen goes well with large furniture. If there are no curtains in the room, then it is able to protect the room from sunlight, often, such a need appears in the summer season.

In the interior, folding, metal screens, screens and shelves are most often found. The first are classics, they are also called folding - they have the shape of an accordion. The accordion is formed thanks to three doors, hence the name. When folded, the screen does not take up much space.

This option is made of wood, plastic or glass. But remember that in families with small children, glass screens are not safe and are more likely to get cuts and abrasions.

The metal screen is a forged openwork product. Experts do not recommend it for small-sized Khrushchevs. For small rooms, it is more correct to install shelving screens. They not only zone the room, but also create another place for storing things.

The remaining option - the screen, unfortunately, does not fold. But since it is made of plastic, there should be no difficulties in transportation and movement. By the way, some models are equipped with a roller base - castors.

Plastic is able to take any shape, so these screens are suitable for any style and interiors, including modern trends, and this material is cheaper in cost. The tree is recommended for classic design and for eco-style rooms. But remember that the tree needs proper care.

Curtains and curtains

When placing a sleeping area in the living room, it is very important to zoning the room. For this purpose, curtains or curtains are most often used. Curtains add airiness to the interior, but at the same time they are not able to protect the sleeping area, create an intimate atmosphere. Blackout curtains perfectly zone the room, but at the same time it is very important to choose a color scheme suitable for the interior.

Often, such a partition separates a sleeping place; for this, a frame or ceiling curtain is mounted in the room. By the way, curtains or tulle can be easily removed and washed.

Curtain zoning has its own classification. It can be complete or partial. In the first option, the room is separated along the entire length or width, and in the second - only the necessary part of the interior, including the bed. With full, you can use curtains, and with partial, even products that resemble threads will do.

For decorative purposes, beads are strung on the threads; it looks elegant in any room. By the way, curtains in the form of threads can separate the bedroom from the crib. The child will always be supervised, but at the same time the parents will have their own corner.

The second type is temporary or permanent zoning. Temporary zoning is used for a specific period. For example, for the duration of a business trip or vacation of a relative, part of the room can be zoned.

And the classification is completed by functional or decorative zoning. Decorative zoning is used when decorating rooms in the style of loft, shabby-sheck, Provence. Some designers use this technique when implementing projects in vintage, country and rustic styles. In this case, the curtains are used to highlight the interior opening, and as doors for cabinets.

Curtains are one of the most democratic zoning methods. They do not take up much space and are easy to move, remove and replace. But I am especially glad that you can choose curtains for any interior, the choice in stores is simply huge. And if you can't find a suitable option, you can always sew the curtains with your own hands.

From modern options blinds stand out, somewhat reminiscent of roller blinds. Only the movement does not occur vertically, but horizontally. Such structures separate not only the bedroom from the living room, but also the dressing room from the main room.

The main feature of modern options is that they are covered with an invisible layer of polyvinyl chloride. This type of plastic is capable of repelling water and dust, which means that blinds are easy to care for and do not need to be washed. Japanese curtains have similar characteristics. By the way, blinds are also used for zoning a room. When assembled, they do not take up much space and can always be moved aside, thus making the room free and spacious.

When zoning with curtains, it is very important to adhere to the designer's advice. The curtains must necessarily touch the floor, if you use products of short length, then the zoning effect cannot be achieved, since the lower part of the room will always be in sight.

Experts recommend using both tulle and blackout curtains together. This combination will give airiness during the day, provided that the curtains are pulled back, and at night, an intimate atmosphere, when the curtains return to their original position.

Plasterboard partitions

In some rooms, the balcony block is purposefully dismantled in order to increase the space. The balcony is glazed, sheathed and insulated. If a large loggia is used, then a sleeping place or office is organized on it.

If the room does not have a balcony, then you can build a plasterboard partition. The main feature of this type of partitions is a capital structure, if screens and curtains are easily removed, then a drywall wall is erected indefinitely.

Drywall is a cheap building material that is easy to maintain. It can be cut and bent, the latter will be required when creating arched structure... It has good sound absorbing properties. Wallpaper can be glued to drywall, it can be painted in the desired color.

Plasterboard construction is a creative process. The structure can be equipped with a niche, ledge, additional storage space, sheathed with wood, install spotlights. Remember that there is a moisture-resistant drywall, as a rule, the bathroom in the "Khrushchev" is combined, with the use of modern building materials, you can separate the bathroom and toilet.

Shelves and cabinets

Not all people want to get involved with repairs. It takes a lot of time, effort and money to repair. As the people joke, the renovation never ends, after the realization of one dream, another always appears. After a hard day at work, I want to come home, relax and just live for my own pleasure, without thinking about anything.

Thus sideboards, walls and libraries were installed. But modern lightweight structures also look harmonious in the central part of the room, while dividing one part of the room from another.

It is not necessary to use pass-through racks, if necessary, the back of the cabinet can be replaced with a mirror. It's no secret that a mirror visually enlarges the space, and this is very important in small-sized Khrushchevs.

Podiums

This option is suitable for zoning "Khrushchev" with high ceilings. Owners of premises with standard ceilings need to know that the podium will "steal" up to 30 cm. Therefore, such zoning should be used in extreme cases. On the catwalks, a living room, dining or work area is placed.

Provided that the ceiling is low, they organize a sleeping area, because it is usually used only at night, unlike dining rooms and offices, which are also in demand during the daytime, drawers can be installed on the podium, and this is additional storage space. If you use a multi-tiered podium, then there will be two or even three times more boxes.

And the multi-tiered podium in this case will act like a staircase. By the way, this design solution does not take up much space, unlike cabinets and shelving.

Sliding partitions

Sliding partitions by the principle of their work resemble sliding wardrobes. In this case, you can use both dense materials that do not allow daylight to pass through, and light, translucent ones.

When open, sliding partitions do not take up much space, therefore, it is advisable to push them aside in the daytime. When implementing the Japanese style, it is this option that is used; it is also suitable for rooms furnished in minimalism.

It would seem that what can be organized in a standard room of twenty square meters? Even a bachelor in such a room can be cramped, not to mention a married couple with small children. But our people, accustomed to Spartan conditions, found a way out of this situation as well.

Experts recommend using a warm corner for cribs that has natural light. In the future, this nook can be expanded, but in the first years of a baby's life, this will be enough. While children are small, they need an eye and an eye, which means that at the initial stage, the use of curtains is justified for partitions, later they are replaced with curtains or a drywall structure.

It is very important at the stage of growing up to provide the child with personal space, the podium perfectly copes with this task. The child visually understands which corner is his property; in addition, a play area can be organized on the podium.

By the way, if your financial situation does not allow you to buy modern building materials, you can always use wallpaper or paint. Bright colors are suitable for a children's corner, but it is important that they are combined with the main room.

Room type

Domestic design specialists prefer to decorate rooms with two windows. In such premises, as they say, there is a lot of design ideas to unfold. In addition, the "unnecessary" window can always be repaired. But first things first, so the rooms in the "Khrushchevs" are of the following types.

Checkpoint

But remember that you will need permission to demolish the walls. Otherwise, there is a high probability of damage to the load-bearing walls, which will lead to irreversible consequences. In addition, it is not bad to get a permission from neighbors, because the repair can be delayed indefinitely.

Corner

Most often, a corner room is found in a one-room apartment. It has two windows facing opposite sides, so this room can be divided into at least two equal parts. In one, organize a bedroom or a nursery, and give the second part as a living room.

To do this, it is not necessary to build a brick wall; you can use the zoning methods described earlier. If there is a clear desire to separate one room from another, then you should build metal carcass and sheathe it with sheets of drywall.

Subtleties of planning

When creating a design project, it is very important to take into account the subtleties of the layout. A large apartment differs from small-sized premises not only in size, but also in structural features, the presence of a balcony or its absence. For example, two-room apartments are called "trailers" because of the exit of windows on different sides of the house and for the adjacent layout. This should be taken into account in a future project.

Probably, no one will argue with the fact that apartments differ from each other, whose area is 42 and 58 square meters. m. The more spacious the room, the more items can be placed, but in small rooms everything should be compact. Accordingly, the design can be for an apartment.

One-room

Often the size of the "odnushka" is 31 square meters. m. And the area of her only room is 18 square meters. m. "Odnushka" is transformed not only by the zoning of the room, but also by using modular furniture and special techniques for the visual expansion of the room.

photos

Two-room

A two-room apartment offers many more design options. Usually, one of the rooms becomes a nursery or a bedroom, and the second is set aside for the living room.

photos

Three-room

Judging by the statistics, three-ruble notes are most often subject to major repairs. The space expands due to the dismantling of the balcony block, in addition, 3 rooms can be combined or, conversely, by erecting a metal frame and sheathing it with plasterboard, divide one of the rooms into two parts.

photos

Four-room

The design of a four-room apartment as a whole differs little from the usual layout, except for one point - a small area of each room. But here you can do without the use of massive partitions and zoning principles - a separate room will be allocated for each functional room.

Colour

The color scheme of the room can influence the mood of not only household members, but also guests. Therefore, it is very important to approach this issue carefully, to choose the color of wallpaper or paint not momentarily, but consciously.

Colors not only create a mood, but also visually expand or, conversely, they narrow the space. And some variants of wallpaper pattern can even have a negative effect on the psyche, this is especially important to take into account when decorating a children's or teenage room.

photos

By the way, experts advise changing the wallpaper or the color of the walls in the room every six years, this has a positive effect on the general mood, there is a certain kind of shake-up that is necessary for any body. Remember that it is not recommended to decorate the bedroom, living room and kitchen in the same style. It is better to show imagination, since the monotony will get bored very quickly, which means that you will have to re-glue or repaint the rooms in a different color. And this is an additional waste of both finance and time.

If the room is dark and its windows face north, it is very important to use light shades in the design. Give preference to white and yellow. And in a bright room, as a rule, there are no restrictions.

Lighting

Correctly selected lighting can not only highlight the main points in the interior, zone the room, but also not harm human health. It's no secret that vision can be planted in dim light and burn out the retina in bright light. For the same reason, doctors do not advise looking at the bright sun and welding without special devices.

Three types of lighting can be organized in the room - general, combined and local. General lighting is used in most rooms, while the chandelier is located strictly in the center of the room, its light is scattered evenly over the entire area.

photos

General lighting is great for square rooms and not quite rectangular rooms. In this case, and with a certain zoning, additional local lighting is used. These can be wall lamps, sconces, floor lamp or table lamp.

Well, combined lighting has absorbed both general and local lighting. By the way, there is also emergency lighting, it is often used in private houses, but it will not be superfluous for “Khrushchevs” either. When the light is turned off, the lamps that run on batteries are turned on, which means that you can forget about the candles.

There are also methods of lighting, among them diffused, indirect, directional and mixed light stands out. When it comes to diffused light, an incandescent lamp comes to mind, it spreads the light around the room 360 degrees. Directional light is capable of illuminating only a specific area. Not direct light - it is light that bounces off a wall, ceiling, mirror, or any other surface.

The mixed version is most suitable for large rooms, since one chandelier is not able to illuminate the entire room. And when zoning, you can't do without additional light. For example, you can hang lamps by the bed, and put a desk lamp on the computer table.

Decorative elements

Part of the decor is not only furniture, curtains, mirrors and carpets, but also indoor plants, decoration materials and paintings. It is very important to adhere to a certain style, but avoid museum resemblance. Interior items should not only decorate the room, but also be used for their intended purpose. So, for example, plates and a tea set can be put on the table and looked in the mirror before going to work.

photos

Modern design

Remember, no matter how old the house was built during the reign of Khrushchev, the premises can always be repaired. And not only cosmetically, but also thoroughly. If you use modern building materials, then the old premises can hardly be recognized.

Take, for example, a bathroom, in "Khrushchev" it is usually combined. But if you zone the room with a partition or curtains, the bathroom will visually change.

Let's take a closer look at the design of other rooms.

Kitchens

Kitchens in "Khrushchevs" are small in size, on average, its area is six square meters. The owners of such premises have to use every centimeter in the literal sense of the word.

  • Any kitchen starts with a refrigerator. In our case, it must be placed in the corner, and it is desirable that it be high, but not wide. Wide specimens reduce space when the door is opened.

  • When installing a washing machine in the kitchen, it is important to build on the color scheme of the furniture. The washing machine must be built into the kitchen set, making it an integral part. If the washing machine will stand alone, then, in addition to taking up free space, it will not fit into the main interior.

  • The gas stove and oven are best selected from the built-in options. They are perfectly mounted in a kitchen set and complement it. But remember that the connection must be carried out by a specialist, otherwise there is a high probability of gas leakage, and this can lead to irreversible consequences. Do not forget about the hood, thanks to which the smells will not linger in the room for a long time.

  • A kitchen set with a small size should be roomy. You need to choose such models that contain inline elements. The sink must be installed in the headset, a place for the trash can is organized under it, and the sewerage system is hidden in this cabinet.

  • By replacing the old wooden window sill with a solid stone work surface, you can create an additional cooking area. And under the windowsill, experts recommend installing a small cabinet with sliding drawers where you can store cutlery or food.

  • If you use a stand to place the microwave, then in this case the table top will be free. kitchen set as the microwave will rise above it. This surface can be used as a work area.

  • Spotlights are mounted for additional lighting. First of all, they are installed in the work area, and for decoration, the kitchen set is often highlighted along the entire perimeter.

  • Unfortunately, you won't be able to put a large dining table in a small kitchen, but alternatively, you can use a pull-out bar counter. Behind it, two people can easily accommodate, and this is more than enough if the family is small.

  • Very rarely in the kitchen in "Khrushchevs" a U-shaped layout is used. As a rule, lonely people resort to this design method, because the furniture will "eat" most of the room and it will be cramped for two people in the same kitchen. But with such a layout, everything will be at hand - the sink, the work surface, and the refrigerator. You don't have to do any unnecessary gestures.

  • When using a corner layout, more space appears, but at the same time you need to choose the right refrigerator and kitchen set. The furniture may have to be made to order.
  • Parallel and one-row layouts are most often organized in large kitchens. With the parallel arrangement of furniture and household appliances, free space appears, which is used for movement. Well, and, accordingly, when planning in one row, the free space doubles. By the way, if you have permission to partially dismantle the walls, then this option can be implemented in the "Khrushchev".

  • It is not advisable to use soiled colors in the kitchen - white and black. But it must be remembered that light shades can visually expand the space, and this is very important in small rooms. And the furniture is mainly made in light colors.
  • If you use dark shades, then you need to understand that visually the kitchen will decrease, in order to avoid this, designers recommend additional lighting and the use of reflective surfaces - these are mirrors and glossy finishing materials.

  • If the kitchen windows face the north side, experts advise using warm shades. Furniture and building materials made in peach or pistachio color will fill the room with warmth and contribute to creating a good mood.
  • But if you want to experiment, then you can combine different shades. For example, blue goes well with yellow, and white goes well with red. It is important to follow the unwritten set of rules. Firstly, building materials must be in neutral or light shades, and secondly, it is important to create a single space using furniture, electronics and decor. And, of course, it is necessary to take into account the fact that bright elements distract the attention of not only household members, but also guests, which means that they should focus on something necessary. In particular, on kitchen units or furniture.

  • The walls in the kitchen are pasted over with light wallpaper or painted with light paint. At the same time, the apron can be distinguished using tiles or a special mosaic made of polyvinyl chloride. It is important that the wallpaper is waterproof and washable, the paint does not absorb odors, and the apron is easy to clean.

  • In no case should you use a suspended ceiling, it will reduce the space, since a frame is being erected for its installation. In order not to whitewash the ceiling every year, experts recommend installing tension option... It is easy to care for and does not reduce the height of the room much. And if you install not matte, but glossy ceiling, it contributes to the visual expansion of the space.

  • The kitchen floor can be laid with laminate or tile... These building materials will work for many styles, but unfortunately they will reduce the height a little. By the way, if you use a laminate of a higher wear resistance class, then you can put a heating system under it - a warm floor.

  • The door in the kitchen can be dismantled altogether, in which case it will not take up space. Alternatively, you can make the opening arched or use curtains for zoning the room. But if there is a desire to preserve the door, then the designers advise using a door leaf with glass inserts.

  • As a rule, curtains are hung in the kitchen, curtains can also be hung, but it is important that they are not dense and dark. Protect from the sun and blinds, in last years roll options are gaining popularity.

They are easily mounted directly into plastic windows, while, depending on the density of the material, the necessary shading is selected. It can be either dense, in which case the sun's rays will not enter the room, or diffused. For the kitchen, it is recommended to use diffused shading.

Bedrooms

The bedroom in "Khrushchev" has the same dimensions as the kitchen - an average of about eight square meters. But at the same time, it is necessary to put a bed, a wardrobe in it, and organize a recreation area. In past years, certain difficulties arose with this, but modern models are so compact that they are also suitable for small-sized premises.

First of all, it is worth talking about the bed, today in furniture stores you can easily find a bed built into the closet. The bed-wardrobe-transformer is assembled in the daytime, there is a free space that can be used for sports or organize a place for children's games. And at night, the wardrobe transforms into a bed, and a fragile girl can also perform this procedure, since modern fittings are used.

Alternatively, a transforming sofa, which is assembled in a similar way in the daytime, is also suitable. By the way, there is often a niche under the sofa that can be used to store things, including bedding.

There are design techniques that can visually increase the space. First of all, I would like to note the mirror, if it is mounted to the full height of the wardrobe door, then the room will be transformed. Photowall-paper and modern volumetric 3D-wallpapers have a similar effect. In addition, glossy stretch ceilings and laminate with a glossy surface are capable of reflecting light.

If the bedroom has a balcony, then you can dismantle the balcony block, with permission, to demolish part of the wall. This will add a few square meters, all that remains is to insulate the balcony and put a cabinet on it or organize a work area.

Above the bed, from the point of view of economy, it would be more correct to mount a modular wall, it is very important that it be the full height and width of the wall. The maximum effect is achieved if it has no handles and is made in light pastel colors.

When choosing styles, it is necessary to build on the dimensions of the room. For example, minimalism means small furniture, correct symmetry and the absence of unnecessary details. In this case, the room seems to be free. By adding the latest building materials, unusual drawings and suitable furniture to the interior, you can modernize the design of the bedroom.

Color scheme is an important interior detail. Since the bedroom is small, design experts do not recommend using more than three colors.

In this case, it is very important that they are pastel shades:

  • White takes a special place. Such an airy bedroom will appeal to both newlyweds and people who have been married for more than twenty years. A homely atmosphere can be enhanced with a large pile rug and photographs from family archives.

  • A bedroom in black will not darken the atmosphere if you add reflective elements to the interior - mirrors, glossy surfaces, gold or chrome inserts. Such a solution can even visually expand the space, and modern electronics made of black plastic will perfectly fit into the environment.

  • The gray bedroom fits harmoniously into most styles. It is pleasant to spend time in such a room, since this color is calm. The beige color has a similar effect, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere.
  • Brown, blue and green are popular among the people due to their excellent combination with other colors, including white and pink. By the way, a pink bedroom is suitable for a girl, this color adds romance to the room.

Particular attention should be paid to the lighting in the bedroom. Many people read or use modern gadgets before going to bed, so it is imperative that wall lamps or lamps be installed on the wall behind the headboard. But at the same time, the main lighting is still the central chandelier, corresponding to the interior.

A special place in the bedroom is occupied by diode lighting, with its help you can decorate the ceiling, and for children's bedrooms it is recommended to create a "starry sky". A little advice: if the child cannot fall asleep for a long time, advise him to count the stars, as a rule, by counting to a hundred, the baby falls asleep.

Starting from the small size of the bedroom in the "Khrushchev", remember that there should be few things in the interior. Pillows, a few books in a conspicuous place, a TV remote control or other electronic equipment and a telephone are enough. And to create comfort, a warm carpet is laid on the floor, curtains from natural materials are hung.

Corridor

The corridor has an even smaller usable area, so it is very important to use building materials that visually expand the room. This is a glossy ceiling, a lacquered floor, and a mirror. Remember that light-colored wallpapers do not diminish the space as dark ones do.

The laminate in the corridor must be moisture resistant, with a high wear resistance class. If you use a cheap option, then in a short time the laminate will become unusable, additional repairs will be required. If the ceilings are low, experts recommend using wallpaper with a vertical stripe, and for expansion along the length - with a horizontal one.

Try to avoid wallpaper with a large pattern; in small corridors, they focus on themselves, thereby emphasizing the size of the room.

It is also necessary to think about lighting, if the corridor is dark, then it resembles a closet. To improve the situation, spotlights or wall lamps are suitable, but central lighting also plays an important role.

By the way, stucco and dropped ceilings significantly reduce the size of the room, in this regard, they must be abandoned. But if wallpaper or paint is used on the ceiling, then, on the contrary, you can visually increase the height of the space.

For small corridors, minimalism is the optimal design style. It is enough to hang a shelf for clothes, organize a place for storing shoes. It is advisable to put seasonal clothes in a separate closet. Remember that a built-in wardrobe is considered an ideal option for "Khrushchev", there is no back wall in such a design, which means that additional centimeters appear that can be used for their intended purpose.

Studios

Studio apartments are popular, due to the fact that for little money you can buy comfortable housing for a small family. Many owners of square meters in "Khrushchevs" have followed the same path. They demolished part of the wall and, thus, turned out to be a studio kitchen.

The option of combining a corridor with a small room is not excluded, and if there is also a balcony, then the usable area becomes larger. But remember that to demolish the walls, you must have permission from the supervisory authority.

When decorating a studio, you need to take into account the holistic perception of the room., which means that one color scheme should be used. Some areas of the room can be zoned with wallpaper, screens or curtains. The transparent and translucent partition looks great. The partition can also be made from the bar counter, it is very convenient to use it for transfer ready meals guests, and the rest of the time just dine with her.

In the zoning of the room, the floor plays a special role, for example, in the studios it is recommended to lay tiles in the kitchen, and in the living room there is a laminate or parquet board. Modern methods of decorating the joints of two different building materials make the joint almost invisible.

The design option for the kitchen has already been described earlier, and as for the living room, it must necessarily have a recreation area, which includes electronics and upholstered furniture. Remember that corner furniture takes up less space, if you put the sofa in the center of the room, then it will focus on itself, while the free space will decrease.

The convertible sofa is perfect for small living rooms, and if guests want to stay overnight, this sofa easily converts into a double bed. Modern household appliances and electronics are small in size, for example, the TV is easily installed on the wall, which means that it does not need a cabinet. All wiring can be removed under a plasterboard-lined metal frame. In the same way, you can make ledges and niches for storing things.

In the case of combining a bedroom and a nursery, the zoning and design options were considered earlier, so we will not dwell on this and will not repeat ourselves. Unfortunately, often the wall is load-bearing, which means that it cannot be demolished. In this regard, it is possible to recommend dismantling the door leaf, and making the resulting opening of an arched type.

Consider the most common design advice that is recommended to use when decorating rooms in the "Khrushchev":

  • Demolition of walls. This solution is suitable for single people and newlyweds who want to make a modern studio apartment out of their home. The combined space looks more spacious, single elderly people will be able to move freely from kitchen to bedroom and vice versa.

  • Dismantling the balcony block. Provided that the balcony is insulated and glazed, a workplace can be organized on this territory. To do this, just put a table and a laptop. And women can organize their own corner by equipping it with a dressing table. If the family has small children, then by installing a desk on the balcony, you can free the main room. In addition, natural light prevails on the balcony, which means that it will be possible to save on electricity.
  • The use of folding furniture. Modular furniture and transforming beds are most often installed in small rooms, they are usually used at night, and the rest are assembled without taking up useful space.

  • Combining a living room with a dining area. Unfortunately, it is physically impossible to put a table in the kitchen; for this you will have to abandon household appliances and a kitchen set. In this regard, designers recommend moving the dining area to the living room. All family members and guests can gather at a large table.
  • Bedroom design. Before buying a bed, it is important to take into account the dimensions of the room: if you buy a large bed, then there will be no room for movement. It is advisable to make a plan diagram and mark all dimensions on it.
  • Ergonomics. Small rooms do not tolerate unnecessary things, all furniture and decor should take their places. Lighting, colors, mirrors and wallpaper can visually expand a small room. Cope with this task and new items in the construction market - modern lacquered laminate and glossy stretch ceilings.

Common mistakes

The wrong choice of color design often spoils the impression of the room. Even if the room is filled with the latest technology, expensive building materials are used, the desired effect is not obtained. There is no need to be afraid to combine colors, a certain tone is set by the colors of the furniture and decor. A harmonious, special interior is obtained only with a combination of different shades, otherwise the room looks boring.

And some people, on the contrary, are overzealous when they buy beautiful things. It is necessary to take into account the fact that the furniture in the "Khrushchev" should be used for its intended purpose, if you buy a museum piece, then it will take up space that is already lacking.

Before buying, for example, an armchair or chair, you definitely need to sit on it, if it is comfortable furniture and it is necessary for the room, you can buy it, otherwise you need to refuse the purchase. After all, the furniture will stand in the room for more than one year.

Incorrect lighting is another common mistake. And this applies to rooms with insufficient lighting, and with its overabundance. And often there are no lamps at all in the place where they are needed, for example, in the bedside area. Remember that modern luminaires can be dimmed, which means they can be positioned in all areas and corners.

The furniture must definitely match the style of the room, otherwise it will stand out against the main background. In this case, it is very important to use folding furniture, it takes up less space. Unfortunately, art objects will have to be abandoned; in small rooms, large sculptures or paintings will look defiant. Moreover, antiques or paintings do not always match the style.

Interior style

The most commonly used styles when decorating a Khrushchev apartment:

  • First of all, of course, we will talk about minimalism... When decorating in a minimalist style, only the necessary furniture is selected, devoid of exquisite design, massive decorative elements are excluded. Only a neutral color scheme is used, while the option of zoning in a different color is allowed. Wallpaper with bright patterns is excluded, the ceiling can either be painted or whitewashed.

The floor can be made from any building material, but it is important that it harmoniously matches the color of the walls. Minimalism does not allow the use of massive chandeliers; lighting must be spot-on.

  • Classic popular at all times. Doorways in use classic style are made out by an arch. Much attention is paid to mirrors, only natural building materials are used for decoration - ceramic tile, wood, stone. Classics do not accept plastic and metal. Is applied to the walls decorative plaster beige, brown or other popular colors, it is allowed to use photowall-paper on the ceiling, imitating classic patterns. We will have to abandon the overall furniture, it can be replaced with folding furniture made from natural materials.

  • Loft style are chosen by modern young people and people of creative professions. Street style implies wall decoration with brick or stone; wallpaper imitating brickwork is suitable. This modern style direction emphasizes the uniform style of the room, but at the same time allows the zoning of the work area and recreation area. The color scheme is cold, most often white, gray and brown are used. Lighting is minimal, with preference for natural light coming through windows.

The furniture is bought simple and only necessary - a sofa, a chair, a table.

Scandinavian style implies the use of a wooden floor, the main thing is that the wood pattern is preserved. Minimalism is used in everything: both in the choice of furniture and in the choice of textiles. Therefore, it is recommended to broadcast not curtains to the windows, but roller blinds. Be sure to present bright details in the interior - green pillows or a red sofa. The walls are painted white.

Beautiful examples in the interior

This section will present photographs and real ideas for transforming a typical Khrushchev into comfortable modern housing. Remember that a cozy room is obtained even from a small room, it is only important to follow the recommendations of specialists.

In this video they are waiting for you useful tips for arranging a small kitchen from a designer.

Khrushchev apartments have become the object of many anecdotes and a problem for most modern residents. Such, on the one hand, are notable for their availability, because at one time a large number of them were built, and on the other hand, the design of the Khrushchev has a lot of problems.

The owners of the Khrushchev house are faced with several problems at once - cramped rooms with low ceilings, a combined bathroom, bulky storage rooms and poor sound insulation. Fortunately, the field of design and architecture has gone ahead and now it is possible to make a convenient, comfortable and attractive home from a small apartment. How to create a design for Khrushchev? Let's see.

The main task of the owner of the Khrushchev is to try to effectively use every meter of usable area. It is important to clarify here - not to clutter up, but to use it functionally. Demolishing partitions is the first thing that comes to mind for every tenant. This method will add space to you and increase the usable space. In this case, you need to familiarize yourself with, find out which wall is the bearing (so as not to accidentally demolish it) and develop a detailed redevelopment plan.

One-room Khrushchev

For one-room apartments, the solution may be to create a studio apartment - when all the partitions are demolished and the room is combined with the kitchen and hallway. The latter is most often separated from the living room by furniture or conventional decor. To highlight the kitchen and separate it from the living area, you can raise the floor or use a floor that is distinctive from the room.

The studio apartment option is suitable for a creative person or free people, but for families with small children it is better to leave the walls so that the space is divided into zones.

If you are not a fan of cardinal wall demolitions, replace the partitions with arches or move the doorways. Then you will get separate rooms and a more comfortable apartment.

We combine a bathroom

Combined bathroom , can be connected to a part of the corridor - as a result, you will get a large space where a washing machine or boiler can fit. The remaining space in the corridor can be used for a wardrobe. In this case, you will free up space in the room and you will have a place to store seasonal items.

Use mobile and multifunctional furniture. Especially if you have a one-room Khrushchev, such furniture will become irreplaceable. Take a closer look at compact dressers, wall-folding beds and cabinets. If you have a closet-pantry, you can safely demolish it or attach it to the neighboring area - a corridor, a room.

For the owners of a two-room Khrushchev, where one room does not have its own entrance, you can add a new partition. The living space will become smaller, but you will have another personal space. High cabinets to the ceiling will help save space in the kitchen. The main thing is not to make them too deep.

No matter how many rooms there are in your apartment, try to make them as light as possible. The lighter the walls and ceiling, the wider the space appears. The ideal solution is to use shades of the same color for all rooms. In this case, regardless of style, you can create a cozy atmosphere.

Also avoid saturated and bright colors in decoration, it is better to add bright accents in the form of paintings, decor, pillows and souvenirs than to paint or paste over a Khrushchev in red or green colors. So, as you already understood, Khrushchev should not be littered and forced with unnecessary things. It is better to use folding tables and folding surfaces. With the color scheme, everything is also clear - a small area loves light and warm colors, for example: milky, white, light gray, pale pink and cream.

Living room design in Khrushchev

To visually enlarge this room, the color of the ceiling should be lighter than the shade of the walls. A glossy stretch ceiling is also suitable, which will create the effect of a mirror reflection. A large and bulky chandelier in a small living room will be out of place, it is better to use several built-in spotlights and place more bulbs on the walls.

Bedrooms in Khrushchev

If you have a two-room apartment, it is best to single out the bedroom as a separate room and not connect it to the corridor. It is also worth using light shades of decoration here, and the most daring tenants can try using a mirrored ceiling, which will visually expand the area.
As for the light in the bedroom, it needs to be given a special place - there may be several lamps. They can be placed on the nightstand by the bed, on the side walls, on the wall by the bed or on the floor.

Hallway

The most is the hallway. To increase its area, perhaps by making wider doorways to adjacent rooms or reconstructing them in. You will receive not only a visual, but also a practical increase in the area - due to the fact that more natural light will come in, a small room will find a second wind.

If the hallway is narrow in width and long, you can divide it into two zones - the first will have a standard hallway with linoleum, and the second will become the transition to the room. As for the furniture, shallow horizontal shelves in the entire wall will be perfect here.

Kitchen design in Khrushchev

Kitchen sets of the popular L-layout are best suited. In this case, one side of the kit will rest against a window or wall, and the other will end with a refrigerator. It would be logical to place the sink at the junction of the two sides.

An excellent option for would be a folding table and folding work surfaces. If you decide to combine the kitchen with the living room or another room, it is worth highlighting it with a different color of finish and choosing a different material in the decor. In matters of color, it is best to choose warm colors - milky, white, sky blue.

And one more detail - choose furniture and equipment that suits your height.

Try to think over the design of the Khrushchev in advance, draw on paper the ideal version of what you want to see. If you have a loggia in your apartment, use it as an additional room - stretch a cable there, put a table, a computer - and you have a study.

To make your office always cozy and warm, the loggia can be insulated. And remember - you can use your imagination in any decor issues. The only thing that cannot be done is to change the location of the bathroom (especially if there is a living room of neighbors under it) and disrupt the ventilation system.

Khrushchev design photo

The term "Khrushchev" evokes in compatriots an analogy with a tiny space where whole families have to huddle. In principle, the correct image, however, such a home has a lot of advantages. As a rule, these apartments are very warm! They do not require a large amount of furniture, because there simply will not be room for it. And, finally, a miniature apartment can be easily made cozy. Modern design the interior of the Khrushchev. 35 photos of design ideas.

The weakest side of the Khrushchevs is their cuisine. Tiny kitchens, on which there is nowhere to turn around, bother you with the lack of extensive, or at least normal, footage. Therefore, many who want to add convenience and beauty to their life are thinking: how to transform the kitchen area, expand it, and make the Khrushchev's interior design practical.
The most popular solution is the demolition of the wall and the installation of a bar counter, which will symbolically, but very nicely, divide the hall and the kitchen. Such a partition will not only be the heart of the party, but also serve as a dining table. Interior design of Khrushchev photo:

Often, almost all kitchen surfaces are used as a warehouse. Warehouse for pots, mugs and other things. Thus, all these pots and pans are cluttering up such valuable space. Therefore, it is better to keep overall cutlery in separate large drawers, which can be built-in or hinged. Interior design of an apartment in Khrushchev, sometimes cabinets for such purposes are installed directly under the ceiling, which may not be very convenient for a slender housewife, but frees up the rest of the space from the dominance of old utensils.

Khrushchev's interior design ideas

Small kitchen - "small" furniture. Small but functional. The owners do not always need a huge surface for cooking. It is needed only during cooking, and the rest of the time you want to move around freely. A sliding table fits perfectly here, which easily transforms from a "stand" for coffee in the early morning into a large field of action during preparation. Seats, or stools, should also be small. Photo of the interior design of the apartment in Khrushchev:

Let's go back to the demolition of the wall. By removing the obstacle, you can get up to two extra meters, which in the case of the Khrushchev room will be worth its weight in gold! This method will give a practical expansion of space. However, not everyone is ready to take drastic measures. There is another option - decorative visualization. Here you will need an experienced designer who will work absolutely all the potential of the space and make the interior design of the Khrushchev house according to your preferences.

It is very important that every cabinet, mezzanine and kitchen table are multifunctional. Built-in dishwasher, a trash can hidden under the sink, adjacent to household chemicals, hanging from a steel bar. The dining table can also appear directly from the headset. And folding chairs will fit into one of the cupboards, leaving room for a miniature but practical corner. Khrushchev's interior design ideas - do not forget about the place above the hood, it can also be used as a box, say, for glasses, or other ceremonial dishes.

Interior design of Khrushchev

Today, thanks to the expanded school of interior design for an apartment in Khrushchev, you can get an answer to all your questions. For example, what to do when the apartment owner is not suitable for the option either with the demolition of the wall, or with the time-consuming, careful study of the elements of practical kitchen decor? The answer is simple, the accent on the window opening will help to visually increase the footage. After all, when the sun's rays penetrate into the apartment, looking into a beautiful window with solid glass, then even the smallest room becomes a little more spacious. Interior design of Khrushchev photo:

The magic is in the details. Much is known about small-sized kitchen furniture (sofas, etc.). They save a lot of space. For the kitchen in Khrushchev, it is better to make custom-made furniture, thus, there is a better chance of achieving the desired result. As for electrical engineering, it is better for it to be built-in, especially when it comes to kitchens with a rectangular orientation. This will undoubtedly increase the comfort of the room.

Everyone knows what a light color is capable of. In the case of the kitchen, these can be “tasty” shades:

The selection of such a color scheme will expand the kitchen, adding air, a sense of spaciousness. But the curtains ... in the war for the squares, transparent materials will do, it is possible without them at all. The ideal in this matter would be the installation of a part of the curtain ensemble - a lambrequin, with graceful folds hanging at a height of one and a half meters. Photo of the interior design of the apartment in Khrushchev:

Lighting devices are one of the most important inhabitants of the kitchen. The light emitted should definitely be bright, but soft and warm. The "cold" glow is capable of pressing on the eyes. The most inventive people use halogen lamps instead of a classic kitchen lamp in the middle of the ceiling, or let a glow of light around the perimeter of the floor plinth.

Just like in a saloon ... Give your soul to creating a western atmosphere, hunt for the picture to be completed. And what completes any author's picture? Finishing touch. So in the design of the premises, the final touch is the door. Some, instead of an ordinary door, attach shutter gates, a la Clint Eastwood, which serve as a decorative element rather than a practical one. It is possible not to stir up the blood with thematic orientations and do with a modest arch without a door, or install a sliding "screen". As you can see, there are a lot of style solutions, ideas for the interior design of Khrushchev.

Design solutions for Khrushchev

We get rid of unnecessary things, reluctantly. To win space from a small kitchen, it is advisable to get rid of the oven and use only the hob. However, among the abundance of motley lotions, it is possible to achieve the same result from the hob as from the oven. Moreover, now on the home appliance market you can buy an inexpensive oven in size that resembles a microwave. Interior design of Khrushchev photo:

Alternatively, a horizontally oriented refrigerator is suitable for a small kitchen. It is located under the working surface of the headset. With a small refrigerator or a bar, you can take the "summer locker", which is located under the window of every Khrushchev kitchen. Do not forget about the windowsill. Since we have everything meets practicality, it is better to remove useless decorations from the window, and by expanding the saucer, attaching a sliding table top, you can create an additional work area or a place for a meal.

Khrushchev's interior design ideas - the generally accepted size of "Khrushchev's kitchen" is 5.5 meters. Especially not clear up ... at first glance. But if there is a caring owner, then he will stand on ceremony with the given. It is possible to achieve the effect of a spacious room. This is done through the aforementioned solutions and suggestions, the rest is a matter of imagination! Photo of the interior design of the apartment in Khrushchev:

The times when apartments were handed out for free are gone forever. And not so long ago, when the country began to recover after the war, in the era of large-panel housing construction, starting in 1955, they tried to provide housing, if not all, then many. Of course, these apartments, which are casually called "Khrushchevs" in the common people, are far from perfect: the walls are too thin and uneven, low ceilings, inconvenient layout, sound and heat insulation is not up to the mark. But they built it quickly, and the Khrushchevs fulfilled their task in full.

In just 9 years, a quarter of the country's population has been provided with housing. And to this day, the Khrushchevs make up a significant part of the housing stock. They give way to new houses only in the central districts of the capital and other large cities, while in the provinces the Khrushchevs will stand for a long time. Their resource, which was previously 50 years old, was revised and increased to 150 years, subject to major overhauls. So there is definitely a point in thinking over the design of the Khrushchev and making major repairs in it.

Yes, in Soviet times, such apartments were also welcome: let it be housing with only 1 room, and even that one is small, but it has its own. The norms of living space were calculated not for reasons of comfort, but taking into account only the necessary minimum for human physiology. Now, when needs have changed, the owners of the Khrushchev houses want to somehow transform their homes in order to achieve comfort and functionality.

The design options for Khrushchev are actually not so few, especially if they provide for redevelopment, for example, dividing one inconvenient room into 2 rooms that perform different tasks, or expanding narrow and small rooms due to walk-through zones. Some options are more successful, some less, but one thing is for sure, even an apartment of such a small area with low ceilings can become modern housing.

Redevelopment

Perhaps an interesting design in Khrushchev can only be created if competent redevelopment is carried out. Apartments do not differ in large area, but their significant drawback is that the rooms are often narrow, uncomfortable, with a walk-through area, non-functional corridors. This problem can be eradicated only by resorting to redevelopment.

Khrushchev buildings were built according to designs of several standard series. They differ quite slightly from each other, but they have one thing in common - a small area:

  • One-room apartments - 29-33 m 2,
  • Two-room apartments - 30-46 m 2,
  • Three-room apartments - 55–58 m 2.

When drawing up a redevelopment project, it will be necessary to solve a number of problems. One of the problems will be associated with the legalization of redevelopment, since not every design "flight of imagination" can be implemented legally. First you need to get permission for redevelopment.

The first difficulty can arise with the definition of load-bearing walls. Fortunately, in almost all Khrushchev buildings, intra-apartment partitions do not perform a load-bearing function, but only divide the space of an apartment into rooms, so they can be easily demolished by making major repairs. However, there are exceptions, in panel Khrushchevs you can also find load-bearing walls inside the apartment. Just in case, I must say how to determine the load-bearing wall in the apartment:

  • According to the plan of the apartment. You can get this kind of document at the BTI. You will be provided with a typical apartment plan with the designation of load-bearing walls and partitions.
  • Visually:
    • The load-bearing wall will be thicker than the partition. In Khrushchev, the thickness of the load-bearing wall will be at least 12 cm without finishing.
    • Interfloor ceilings will always be supported by load-bearing walls.

If the wall is still bearing, then the opening will need to be strengthened with metal or wooden supports. Redevelopment, providing for the partial dismantling of the bearing wall, can be carried out only with the permission of the housing inspectorate, strictly observing the approved project.

Even if the bearing walls are not involved in the redevelopment, a number of problems may arise. For example, if the redevelopment is associated with the expansion of the "wet zone". According to the law, the bathroom and toilet can only be expanded by non-residential premises, i.e. corridor, kitchen or pantry. The only exception is for residents of the first floors, these restrictions do not apply there.

In Khrushchev houses, there is often a small, little functional corridor connecting the hallway and the kitchen, due to which it would be convenient to expand the bathroom. Here it is on the diagram:

In fact, this is a corridor, but on the plans this site is designated as a residential area, so it remains either to put up with this, or to act in two stages: first, separate this area with a partition and arrange the redevelopment of the living space into a corridor, then get permission for another redevelopment - expansion bathroom and to draw up documents in accordance with all the rules. Those. you will first have to draw up a redevelopment of this type:

By the way, increasing the bathroom due to the passage will require additional waterproofing.

If it is planned to combine the kitchen and living room in order to create a spacious living-dining area, then here you may encounter another limitation: the combination of living space with a kitchen in the presence of a gas stove is not allowed. There are two ways out: change the stove to an electric one, or install a light sliding partition (after the commission arrives, it can be dismantled).

It is worth thinking about solving a number of other issues, which are discussed below.

Warming... Since the insulation in Khrushchevs is insufficient - in summer it is hot in them, in winter it is cold, the walls in corner apartments often freeze - the thermal insulation of the walls should be strengthened. And internal insulation in Khrushchev, it is not applicable, since the implementation of this method leads to a displacement of the dew point inside the walls. As a result, the walls begin to collapse, especially the brick ones. Thermal insulation is available by cladding the outer walls with polystyrene plates or by using lathing and mineral wool on the first floors of the building.

Glazing replacement... It is advisable to replace old wooden windows with new plastic ones. Here you will have to face some difficulties. Firstly, in some Khrushchev (panel) houses there are no window sills, and secondly, the window opening is likely to be uneven. If you contact a company with experience, then there will be no problems with installing a window, since the experience in replacing windows in Khrushchev buildings has been accumulated. There are a few things to think about carefully:

  • how wide the window sill will be,
  • how to insulate a window.

Usually they try to make the windowsill wider so that there is room for indoor plants... In Khrushchev, where initially there were no window sills, this should be avoided. On the one hand, the support area for a wide window sill is insufficient, which means that the structure will be very unstable, on the other hand, a wide window sill will cause a violation of heat transfer. By the way, plaster slopes must be completely dismantled.

Redevelopment ideas

So, the main problems of redevelopment and repair in Khrushchev are outlined. Now about the specific ideas for redevelopment.

One-room Khrushchev

It would seem that you can come up with a one-room Khrushchev building as the initial data? It turns out that it is possible to enlarge the bathroom and make a separate bedroom, at least to make the redevelopment more convenient is quite possible.

The typical layout of a one-room apartment in Khrushchev is a corridor leading to the kitchen and an "arch" to the living room. In some series, the "arch" was built up, and the passage to the room was located directly opposite front door... Sometimes the project included a storage room. In the corner apartments, there was another window on the long wall of the living room.

Redevelopment option Redevelopment description

This is a redevelopment option, where the "arch" is built up and turns into a regular doorway, the functionality of the living room in this case increases, since along the wall that has increased in length, you can put, for example, a sofa. The door to the toilet is also transferred, due to the rounding of the space, the hallway becomes more spacious. Now a corner cabinet can be conveniently placed here. The kitchen remains unchanged.

Here you can see that all are completely demolished interior partitions, including the partitions of the bathroom. The space is completely rebuilt. The bathroom is expanded by a corridor, now there is enough space to install washing machine... The sink, by the way, is transferred to the opposite wall, which will require a sewer supply. The partition between the living room and the kitchen is dismantled, the wall between the bathroom and the kitchen is lengthened by building up the old doorway: a full-fledged kitchen set can be placed. The disadvantage of redevelopment is that the area of the hallway is reduced, but it is now convenient to place a wardrobe in the living room, especially since there is a place for a hanger and shelves for shoes in the hallway.

Another option for transforming space through a passage. In this case, the orientation of the bathroom changes - it slightly increases in area, but the main emphasis is on increasing the area of the kitchen. It is partially combined with the living room due to a wide opening in which sliding partitions can be installed.

Here a lot of attention has been paid to storage places, and there is also a place for a double bed, it is in no way separated from the living room area, but is located in a cozy nook. The kitchen is combined with the living room, a separate niche for the refrigerator is arranged. You can beat the kitchen, living room and sleeping areas using design. Pay attention to the bathroom. The entrance to it is transferred from the hallway to the passage, due to which the door is removed from the narrow hallway. Replacing the bathtub with a shower stall allows you to relieve space and install a washing machine.

In this version, due to the transfer of the doorway to the kitchen, the bathroom has been expanded, or rather the bath area, part of the wall is beveled, resulting in a full-fledged doorway to the living room. The kitchen space is not substantially optimized.

Here the partition between the hallway and the living room has been demolished. There is a wardrobe on this place. Partly there is no partition between the living room and the kitchen. The bar counter acts as a space divider. By shifting the dining area from kitchen to living room, the kitchen has become much more spacious. The kitchen set in this version is located with the letter "L" and occupies not only a long wall, but also a wall with a window. Perhaps, it should be noted the lack of storage space and a small bathroom, which is not being rebuilt, but instead of a bath, a shower and a washing machine are installed.

Even such a small apartment as a one-room Khrushchev can be made two-room if necessary. For example, in this plan you can see that a bed and a bedside table have been placed in the far corner of the living room. The bedroom area is separated by a partial partition to allow natural light as the bedroom has no window. The kitchen and dining area are united by a single table top. Zoning was carried out using flooring... There is storage space both in the hallway and in the living room.

In corner Khrushchev houses, where there are two windows in the room, there are more redevelopment options, more precisely, from one room you can make two full-fledged bright rooms with natural light. This plan shows that the partition between the kitchen and the living room has been demolished, but a new partition has been erected, which now divides the room into two parts. The result is a great apartment with separate rooms: a living-dining room and a bedroom. The redevelopment does not affect the bathroom area.

This redevelopment option is similar to the previous one, but the entrance to the bedroom is from the living room. But in the bedroom you can order a large wardrobe, which will solve the problem with storage space.

Two-room Khrushchev

The typical layout of a two-room Khrushchev gives more design opportunities, especially if all the walls in the apartment are not load-bearing.

In a typical two-room Khrushchev, you can significantly expand the bathroom through the passage, organize a spacious dining-living room. In addition, you can actually make a "three-ruble note" from a two-room apartment. There are three common typical layouts for kopeck houses in Khrushchevs, which were popularly called amorous: "book", "tram", "mini-improved".

Redevelopment option Redevelopment description

The partition between the room and the living room is simply being demolished. The space of the former passage is now divided between three rooms: an entrance hall, a bathroom and a kitchen. There is a wardrobe in the hallway, a washing machine in the bathroom, and a niche for a refrigerator in the kitchen. The doorway to the storeroom is built up. It turned into a dressing room with an entrance from the bedroom. The kitchen is combined with the living room.

A similar option. The difference is that there is no niche for a wardrobe in the hallway, and a workplace is located in the living room, opposite the front door. The entrance to the wardrobe is not from the bedroom, but from the living room, next to the workplace.

The redevelopment here mainly affected the kitchen and living room. The wall between the living room and the kitchen has been torn down and replaced with an island kitchen sink. The dining area is now in the living room: the dining table is adjacent to the sofa. Behind a sliding partition is a double bed, which has been fitted in by extending the wall between the hallway and the living room. From the bedroom area you can enter a spacious dressing room hidden behind a sliding door. The bedroom has become a nursery for two children.

The disadvantage of this redevelopment is immediately visible - it is too long and narrow corridor, but, nevertheless, this option has the right to exist. After all, it allows you to make separate rooms, expand the bathroom at the expense of the corridor, and allocate a storage area. Both the bedroom and the living-dining room are separated by partial partitions, which function as zoning space and highlight the recreation area.

In this version, a niche for a refrigerator and a wardrobe was made at the place of the passage. The partition between the kitchen and the living room is only partially removed in order to make a new entrance. The living room turned out to be dark, the light comes only thanks to transparent inserts in the partitions. But the new bedroom turned out to be very bright and with a balcony.

Such a redevelopment option is also possible. Part of the pantry and the bedroom become a common space with the living room, the partition between the living room and the hallway moves deeper into the room, the kitchen partition is dismantled. It turns out to be a very spacious living-dining room, a small bedroom and a full dressing room.

The kitchen and living room are not combined here, as in most of the previous options, but the bathroom also expands due to the passage. A partition in the bedroom divides the room into two bedrooms - one with a window, the other without. The wall is made in a zigzag pattern to leave space in both rooms for deep built-in wardrobes.

This option is similar to the previous one. The bedroom is also being rebuilt in such a way that two separate rooms are obtained from it, but the bathroom is not rebuilt, a dressing room and a place for a built-in wardrobe in the hallway are now located in the aisle. The partition between the living room and the hallway is moved further - a comfortable workplace is organized.

An interesting option is a diagonal redevelopment, as, for example, seen on this plan. Thanks to this approach, the bathroom was able to accommodate corner bath, combine a washbasin and a washing machine under a common countertop. The kitchen is not expanding, but its design is changing significantly. First, the partition is demolished. The table is replaced by a bar counter. Secondly, the sink is transferred to the side of the wall with the window. The partition between the bedroom and the living room is moved to accommodate the built-in furniture. The highlight of the project is a dressing room, on the sides of which corner cabinets can be placed.

There is also a diagonal hallway. But the bedroom has been greatly expanded by the living room. In fact, it turns out a three-room apartment, but the living room is small and separated from the kitchen by a low partition.

A similar project, but the hallway is slightly larger. There is a niche for a wardrobe. The bathroom is enlarged.

Two-room Khrushchev on two sides. The rooms are adjacent. And the main task is to make them separate. The door to the bathroom is moved from the narrow hallway, and by reducing the living room area, it is possible to allocate space for a storage room or dressing room. The bedroom is divided by a through rack, thanks to which the illumination does not decrease significantly, but the space is zoned into the bedroom and the living room. Instead of the former living room, there is now a children's room.

Three room flat

In a three-room Khrushchev, redevelopment tasks are also reduced to solving the problem of adjacent rooms and their small area.

The typical layout of a three-room apartment includes a small kitchen and a walk-through living room, from which there is an entrance to the bedroom, one bedroom is separate. This can be a book-type layout:

Or "tram" layout:

Redevelopment options Redevelopment description

This plan shows that the entrance to the bathroom has been moved and made at the junction of the walls, the partitions of the kitchen and hallway have been dismantled. The pantry has been converted into a walk-in closet and slightly enlarged with a walkway.

In this version, there is no partition between the living room and the living room. The bathroom is combined. The partition between the living room and the kitchen is partially removed, but it remains opposite the bathroom. The entrances to one of the bedrooms and the wardrobe are arranged in a semicircle.

A large and comfortable dressing room has been made here, the entrance to which is from the bedroom. In the living room there is a special rounded niche for the TV, which has become the central element. There is also a dining area in the living room.

Hallway design

The hallway in Khrushchev has several disadvantages:

  • diminutiveness;
  • long and narrow corridor;
  • inconvenient layout in the form of the letter "G".

To avoid a lack of space, the hallway can be expanded with a bathroom or living room, at least in order to install a wardrobe. The fact is that even a narrow closet in such a hallway will be inappropriate, because the situation is often aggravated by the bathroom door opening into the hallway. If it is not planned to enlarge the room, then you will have to go to various design tricks in order to prevent the feeling of a cluttered hallway.

Design techniques that will allow you to unload the interior as much as possible:

  • Minimalism of furniture... This applies not only to the design of furniture, but also to its quantity. The hallway should contain only the essentials. These are, for example, places for shoes and clothes. And you should avoid open hangers, as even a couple of sets of winter clothes on it will create a messy effect. Still, you must try to allocate space for the closet. This could be a small corner cabinet with a mirrored door. Nearby you can hang a small shelf for small items that should be at hand. In general, corner structures and mirrors should be used in the Khrushchev hallway. But it is not recommended to hang a mirror opposite the door according to Feng Shui.
  • Expand the space will help competent selection of interior colors... It is known that light colors visually make the interior more spacious. This is also true for the hallway. However, if you follow this advice, choose materials that can be washed. For example, for walls it can be paint, for floors, tiles or ceramic tiles. Avoid materials with a porous texture, it is easy to stain them in a cramped hallway, but it will be difficult to return to the previous look. Color accents will distract from the cramped hallway, but do not overdo it - there should not be many of them. As for the ceilings, they must certainly be light, no experiments with dark shades on the ceiling, otherwise the feeling of a very low ceiling will appear.
  • Lighting... Of course, the design of the corridor must provide for carefully thought out lighting. In the hallway, which is a priori devoid of a natural source of light, this is extremely important. The best option there will be a stretch glossy ceiling with spotlights. Their number should be sufficient. For example, luminaires are often placed along the entire ceiling along the center line or along the perimeter of the walls in two rows. Additional wall lights can be provided. The switch must be positioned so that it can be reached from the threshold. It is quite inconvenient when it is located in the center of the hallway. You have to cross part of the hallway in the dark in dirty shoes, coming from the street, just to turn on the light. By the way, if the corridor is long, then it is advisable to install a pass-through switch, with which you can control the lighting from different ends of the corridor.
  • Zoning... In a miniature hallway, zoning will probably be inappropriate, which cannot be said about a long corridor. Some designers advise to divide the space of such a corridor into two, maximum three zones using arches, you can also use color schemes.

Living room design

When developing a living room design, you will have to face the same problems as in the hallway: low ceilings, little light. In addition, the living room is often a walk-through, which is why a significant part of it cannot be fully used. Some of the problems are solved with the help of redevelopment, as mentioned above, some can be solved by using competent design ideas.

  • laconic design, no protruding decorative elements;
  • minimum amount of furniture,
  • neutral colors, it is possible to use contrasting colors to transform the perception of space, but a professional approach is required.

Most likely, you will have to order furniture according to your size, since it will be difficult to choose something from the ready-made.

The most correct move would be to replace heavy curtains with light curtains that will allow natural light to enter the room as much as possible. Good artificial lighting should be provided in the evening. It can be all the same spotlights in combination with a glossy light stretch ceiling, a plasterboard ceiling with niches that are well lit around the perimeter, or the so-called floating ceiling, realized using LED lighting.

Of course, you can make a separate bedroom in Khrushchev, but if you don’t want to sacrifice free space for the sake of placing a double bed, which will be a “dead weight”, you can choose transforming furniture as a solution. Now on sale there is not only a bed that transforms into a small sofa, you can buy corner sofas in a complex with living rooms, which will turn into full beds at night.

As for the style, with a skillful approach, you can decorate the living room in almost any of the style directions, at least you can use individual style elements. For example, living rooms in the style of shabby chic and high-tech:

Bedroom design in Khrushchev

Bedrooms in layouts such as "book" and "tram" are narrow and long. In terms of area, they seem to be not so small, but this does not add functionality to them. If redevelopment is not carried out in the bedroom, then one should strive to bring the shape of the bedroom closer to the square with the help of furniture. This is easy to do if the layout is "book". You can make a spacious dressing room or a spacious wardrobe. With the "tram" it is more difficult, but there is also a way out. As you can see above, with the help of redevelopment, you can combine a living room and a bedroom in one room.

With regard to lighting, the choice of furniture and colors, then for the bedroom all the recommendations that have been given for the living room and hallway are applicable. Separately, it should be said that in the design of the bedroom it is better to avoid the use of cold saturated shades in large quantities, however, bright contrasting shades in large quantities are also inappropriate here. The bedroom should be conducive to rest and peace. Use finishing materials and textiles in the bedroom mainly in pastel light shades, combining colors. You can even choose white as the main color, creating something in the Scandinavian style.

There are specially designed color schemes for interior design that can be successfully used when choosing the color of furniture, finishes and accessories.

Avoid intricate decorative elements with elaborate curved lines. If there is very little space, limit yourself to one bed. A mirror will be functional in the bedroom, especially if there is a place for a small dressing table and a dressing room is located next to it. A chandelier is often hung in the bedroom. It is better to give up on it and limit yourself to spot lighting, but if you really want to, then choose flat models.

Kitchen in Khrushchev

There is too little space in the kitchen in the Khrushchev, literally you can't turn around. It is necessary either to do a redevelopment, or try to transform the space so that it becomes functional and comfortable.

The main move is custom-made furniture. An insignificant moment, but two or three centimeters here and there, sometimes, decide "the outcome of the battle." Having carefully thought out the placement of the kitchen set, or rather all the sections, drawers and household appliances, you can literally implement a renovation in the kitchen of the Khrushchev. Built-in appliances will serve well: a microwave oven, an oven, a hob, a dishwasher, which can be small. Even refrigerators can now be purchased built-in under the countertop: it seemed - a cabinet; but no, you open it - the refrigerator.

It has now become fashionable to transfer the kitchen sink to the window, thanks to which a tall refrigerator can be placed in the corner. We'll have to tinker with the sewer, but the solution is worthwhile.

You don't have to carry the sink if you don't see the need for this, but simply use the window sill as a table top. Some connect the work area and the bar counter with a single tabletop, which makes the interior more cohesive.

As for textiles, choose short, light curtains for the kitchen, or even better. horizontal blinds located directly on the sashes plastic windows- very comfortably.

Sewer and gas pipes are not very conveniently located in the Khrushchevs in the kitchen. Gas pipes, if desired, can be moved by contacting the appropriate authorities. Or you can disguise them with furniture or a plastic box, or assemble a drywall box.

We hope that our advice will help you independently develop the redevelopment and design of your beloved and dear Khrushchev. And finally, we suggest looking at another selection of photographs of the design of the Khrushchevs.
