Living room interior classic style became less and less in demand. And in vain, because aristocratic England or mysterious Egypt is able to fully settle in a spacious city apartment. The classic style gets new formats.

The interior of the living room in a classic style will create a cozy atmosphere and emphasize the great taste of the home owners

The main characteristic features inherent in the classics are the flashy richness of the decoration and, of course, the special features inherent in each direction. This type of registration is subdivided according to the countries of origin.

The classic design is perfectly suited to white, which makes the room light and spacious.

In addition to those voiced earlier, the classics can be:

  • Roman;
  • gothic;
  • Greek;
  • Romanesque;
  • baroque;
  • Renaissance;
  • rococo;
  • empire style;
  • modern classic.

Such an extensive list hides its own characteristics and features of each direction. Some are similar, others are radically different from the first. But they have something in common. They are united by the presence of white color, which is an indicator of purity. For example, "Baroque" has milky shades of furniture, walls and ceilings, "Renaissance" is characterized by a yellowish-white finish, expressed by facades with golden frames. Even "Gothic" is not an exception. Its elements are also executed in white shades, allowing the observer to indicate his belonging to the ageless classics.

Soft beige color adds warmth and coziness to the living room

The design of the living room in a classic style fits perfectly into such a room. Rich decoration, royal, aristocratic attributes find widespread use here. Your guests will appreciate the ambiguity of the spacious hall with Greek columns that form the majestic pillar of the arched opening.

Country houses, the halls of which are decorated in Roman or Greek style, do not leave indifferent the owners. Large, spacious rooms allow you to organize the interior decoration, fully expressing the features of these areas. The presence of a balcony or bay window in the hall will add the required chic.

Pastel shades of purple - lilac, lilac and lavender look cute and sophisticated

The widespread use of expensive finishing materials has a beneficial effect on the atmosphere of the room. Noble wood, ceramic tile, natural stone, in combination with expensive textiles - obvious attributes of any type of classics.

A combination of jewelry borrowed from different types, able to bring neoclassicism to life. Wide window openings provide bright light. Gold-plated patterns on the wallpaper of the walls, reflecting highlights in the sun. Richly embroidered upholstered furniture, crowned with light graceful folds, will add eccentricity. Expensive, luxurious curtains, descending from the ceiling to the floor itself, surrounded by magnificent grabs, will save you from bright light. High light colonnades holding the bay window from the inside of the room, made in the best traditions of the Greek and Roman descendants of architects, will ideally highlight the belonging of such a design.

Gray is not often found in classic interiors, but it looks quite impressive.

All shades of brown are closest to the classic style.

Correctly arranged decorative lighting will decorate the columns several times. Monolithic statues characteristic of the Roman type will organically fit into the space of the hall.

The gothic sharp vaults of the windows will find unique uses here. Stained glass windows will add some charm and uniqueness to the interior decoration. The "Gothic" ceiling is made in the same way with sharp corners. Elongated shapes, pointed objects, dark tones of shades of color - these are the main properties that are inherent in "Gothic".

Furniture and accessories

The following can be used as accessories of the classic style, depending on its type:

  1. A beautiful chandelier, selected from wrought metal, hung with Bohemian crystal.
  2. The same colors of different elements of the interior decoration. All kinds of glasses, pillows, watch cases, book bindings. The same shade of color is chosen, which is repeated by each piece of furniture.
  3. Carved furniture fronts: a bed, a separate mirror, mannered armchairs, a harmoniously hung curtain right behind the berth.
  4. Fireplace, which is decorated on top with an interesting composition of architectural forms inherent in ancient Greece. White pilasters that adorn the vaults of the fireplace will be an eye-catching accent in the living room.
  5. Stylistic pictures of English hunters of the last century, captured together with pedigree dogs, against the background of a killed trophy.
  6. Elements of gilding of various accessories of the decoration. Furniture parts, paintings, chandeliers acquire a rich look.
  7. Wall niches equipped with illumination, on which beautifully bound books are located.
  8. The wide arch, framed by Greek Ionic columns, will create a stunning effect.

Furniture items can be massive or sophisticated, but always graceful

Classics require expensive and beautiful decor items

Classic styles have extensive embellishment and decoration possibilities. Thanks to the historical origin, the emerging foundations, as well as the mannerism of each, a lot of possible elements appear that complement the decoration. With correctly installed lighting, highlighting the most worthy places in the room, you will plunge into the past, get acquainted with its laws, feel its atmosphere.

Neoclassic

This type of hall decoration has absorbed all the advantages of the past and modern times. Strict, graceful elements of interior furniture are ideally combined with modern color shades... The table and chairs of the aristocratic class coexist with strange paintings of abstractionism. The decorated room of strictly light colors, lined with elegant armchairs made of smooth textiles, is in tune with the fireplace, laid out with stylish masonry "Loft". The combination is not compatible.

Furniture is selected to a minimum, you cannot overload the interior

The center of the living room composition is the sofa, which forms a kind of island in the interior of the room.

For example, a room decorated with "Modern" can contrast well with the decoration of one of the walls "High-tech". Ceramic floor tiles, on which a dark brown carpet finished with white plaster is laid, a ceiling with several levels, equipped with neon lighting around the perimeter, a wall composition consisting of decorative columns made of PVC elements, with golden wallpaper in the middle, goes well with the finished plastic panels the wall opposite. This is the whole essence of neoclassicism.

On the ceiling, a wide plinth, as in luxurious antique interiors

Important. The choice of an element borrowed from another type of room design should be based on the principle of maximum compatibility. No need to take very flashy accents, bright colours... First of all, the design should complement each other, harmonize.

Furniture made of expensive types of wood and antique interior items are suitable for neoclassicism.

Egyptian design

The Egyptian design of the classic interior of the living room looks very beautiful.

Egyptian style in the design of a modern living room

Reference. The very first columns appeared in Egypt. At that time, a local architect named Imhotep, around the 30th century BC, erected a tomb for the pharaoh, during the construction of which he first used such an architectural element as a column. Later, the peoples of Greece adopted this architectural ensemble, which is still used today.

Typical for the style is the use of golden furniture or similarly designed furnishings.

Give your living room a mysterious, mysterious atmosphere. To do this, it is necessary to use the explicit attributes of Egyptian wall painting. Of course, you don't have to carve them out of stone. It is enough to purchase themed wallpapers with printed pictures of ancient Egyptian gods and rituals.

A painting depicting a pharaoh is a good solution for interior decoration in the Egyptian direction

The columns here are somewhat different from the usual white compositions. They are made mainly of smooth texture, golden-black tones. The capitals are made elongated towards the ceiling, with smoothly flowing contours. On the wall from the capital, a similar pattern is organized along the perimeter along the entire length.

Spotlights will be very appropriate. Be sure to purchase warm glow bulbs for them. Together with the golden finish of the decoration, they will harmoniously complement the hall.

Replace dressers and wardrobes with antique chests to fully match the style

The option with the use of decorative embossed plaster looks very interesting. Invite a master who can easily decorate one of the walls with sculptures of gods and pharaohs. Small elements inherent in Egypt rock painting will become an exclusive accent of a classic style living room interior.

Gothic

Gothic is a very specific design option for a classic living room. Mystery, inappropriate darkness and sheer luxury are the hallmarks of this interior.

Traditional Gothic interiors can look overly gloomy.

The color palette is extensively represented by dark shades. Use black, purple, burgundy tones. For example, flooring performed by purple carpet. A matte texture would be appropriate here. At the same time, the walls are painted black. To diversify the monotony of the wall space, it can be decorated in places with decorative plaster or unusual reliefs.

In a modern version, the Gothic style is gradually moving away from the gloomy appearance.

Pay special attention to baguettes. Wide textured products, the design of which resembles the Greek parts of the columns, perfectly emphasize the majesty of the "Gothic" style.

The ceiling is an important accent of this style. Ancient castles used to have intricate ceiling spaces. Steep vaults and sharp corners adorned it everywhere. For a city apartment, this effect is also possible to achieve. I finish the ceiling with a dark shade, for example, brown. In addition, protruding patterns are applied. The latter are selected in arched shapes, with strange swirls.

Gothic-style interiors are not cheap because natural materials are expensive.

Much attention is paid to furniture. Wooden cabinet fronts are purchased in black colors. All kinds of patterns will harmoniously express the character of the Gothic interior. To fully integrate the hall into the image, the inner parts of the cabinets are framed with burgundy textiles.

Furniture items should be as similar as possible to those used in the Middle Ages

Particular attention is paid to the lighting in the living room. A gloomy room needs to be given a lot of light. Wall sconces are selected according to the design. The candle holders will fit perfectly. The central chandelier must be forged, three-dimensional.

Baroque

This classic living room style is the complete opposite of Gothic. Bright, light, dazzling with different colors. The color scheme is predominantly white. Gilding is quite appropriate here.

Getting into a baroque style living room, one gets the impression that you are on the verge of fantasy and reality

The flooring is made of parquet, parquet boards or ceramic tiles. Cheaper finishing materials will not work here. If your choice is on parquet, be sure to buy it with some kind of smooth pattern. Ceramic tiles are suitable here with a complex pattern. The perimeter of the floor is framed by a frame. Additionally, the parquet is covered with a patterned textile carpet.

The doorway must be dismantled and replaced by an arch, on the sides of which Roman columns are arranged. The adjoining walls are decorated with wood paneling, the tops of which are crowned with soft-glow lamps.

To get a living room in the Baroque style, you need to create a single composition in which all objects will complement each other.

The color palette is very rich, but all colors are natural - silver, gold, white, emerald and yellow

The ceiling will look good in a two-level design. The level boundary does not have to be straight. Make it using semicircular, intricate smooth lines.

The furniture purchased here is very expensive, luxurious, made of carved, bleached gilded wood. Soft textile upholstery should stand out clearly.

Furniture should be massive, pretentious, with smooth lines and carvings

The accentuating object of "Baroque" can be beautiful fireplace... It is decorated with a shade of color different from the walls so that it attracts attention. Of course, building a natural fireplace is not possible here. Therefore, the solution will be to make a dummy, or buy a biofireplace.

It also includes modern interiors, which are decorated in accordance with generally accepted canons.
  • This style is characterized by symmetry, which is expressed in the arrangement of furniture items, architectural and decorative details. Strong lines and clear geometry are encouraged.
  • In the decoration and manufacture of furniture, natural materials are used in the form of wood, metal or stone. They choose exquisite and high quality textiles.
  • The interior design assumes a softer color scheme, traditional patterns and ornaments, and an abundance of luxurious accessories.

Materials and finishes

The walls can be monochromatic or decorated with painting, stucco or semi-columns, which will give the space a special aristocracy and give the room a palace look. Wall decoration should stand out due to texture, not bright colors.

The floor in the living room is laid with parquet flooring with a floral or geometric pattern. To fix the finished result, the surface is covered with a glossy varnish. For decoration, you can also use a laminate with an imitation of natural wood covering... The floor made of noble marble will be a good addition to the interior in classic style.

Thus, from an ordinary ceiling, it turns out to make an unreal work of art.

In a living room in a classic style, it is appropriate to install a sofa and luxurious armchairs with light leather or fabric upholstery in beige, brown or gray colors. A roomy chest of drawers and large-sized wooden cabinets with mirrored or glass fronts are also suitable for design.

Luminaires can be decorated with glass or mirrored details, creating an unusual play and play of light.

It is appropriate to place candlesticks on the mantelpiece or chest of drawers, which, thanks to the muted glow, will not only form a cozy and secluded atmosphere in the living room, but also endow it with antique notes.

For draping windows, choose heavy and dense curtains, fixed with hooks with cords and tassels. The curtain ensemble is complemented by translucent tulle, decorated with lambrequins and hung on an expensive and beautiful cornice.

Sofa cushions can act as a logical continuation of the curtains. They can be made in different colors and at the same time be in harmony with curtains, upholstered furniture or basic finishing.

Living room design ideas

Making a small living room

For a small hall, it is better to choose finishes, furniture and textiles in light shades. Several rich accents will help to diversify the monochrome design of the living room in a classic style.

A small room is furnished with compact furniture elements that do not clutter up the space. They install only the necessary items, try to exclude numerous poufs, armchairs, voluminous bookcases and so on.

In decorating a small room, you should also use more discreet and graceful accessories. When choosing a finish with columns, stucco and painting, in order not to overload the living room, it is advisable to prefer only one or two decorative elements.

Currently, there are many options for creating a living room interior design in the "classic" style. However, often, having decided to make repairs, people are faced with a serious problem - the lack of space for the implementation of the conceived ideas. Don't be in a hurry to despair. This article will help owners of small apartments create a living room interior in a classic style.

So, first you need to determine the six main components of the interior: the color scheme, the materials used to decorate the room, lighting, furniture, windows and doors.

Choosing a color

The classic style of living room design dictates certain frameworks in the choice of colors. Bright, contrasting combinations contradict the chosen style. You should also not give priority to too dark shades: deep blue, dark eggplant.

  1. Timeless classics: white and black. This color combination does not even need comment. After all, it is ideal for creating an interior in any style: from classicism to post-modern.
  2. Delicate pastel colors are the basis of a classic interior. Peach, beige, pistachio, cream, all shades of pink (from dirty pink to turning into beige), light yellow tones will help create a pleasant, calm atmosphere in your living room.
  3. The choice of cold shades can be an excellent solution. Blue, mint, blue will help to visually enlarge the room, make it fresh and spacious.
  4. Warm, "autumnal" colors will make a small living room really cozy. This group includes: coffee, golden, sand, bronze and brown shades.
  5. To create a truly majestic living room, bright colors are suitable: scarlet, purple, gold, burgundy.

Important! Don't be afraid to use bright colors. It is generally accepted that they visually reduce the space, but this is far from always the case. When used correctly, "flashy" tones will emphasize the beneficial features of the room. But! There is no need to focus on black, although it is at the very beginning of the list. Black interferes with the spread of light in the room, thus making it visually narrower. Being in a too dark small living room is uncomfortable. An example of the use of black / dark blue in the interior is the creation of black window frames, curtains or textiles.

Options for creating small-sized living rooms in a classic style can be seen by looking at the photos below:

Decide on materials for finishing

Traditionally, expensive fabrics, natural materials and finishes are used to create an interior in a classic style. self made... However, there are more modern and budget options for the interior design of the living room in a classic design.

  • Wooden panels for walls. Such panels can be either dark or light. It depends on the color scheme you have already chosen. Natural material will emphasize the nobility and also make the living room more comfortable.

  • Decorative plaster. Currently, there is a huge selection decorative plaster on the building materials market. When choosing it, you just need to arm yourself with patience and money.

  • Painting. The most expensive option for wall decoration. You need to find a master whose work you trust, as well as buy quite expensive materials for painting. When the work is done, you will be delighted with the elegance and grace of the room!

  • Textile. Wall upholstery with fabric will add warmth and comfort to the room.

  • Wallpaper. The most familiar option for everyone at the present time. The selection of wallpapers on the market is simply huge. When buying, you should carefully monitor the quality of the material, the thickness of the wallpaper and the accuracy of the pattern.

Important! In order for solid wood panels to retain their original gloss, it is necessary to provide them with proper care. Conduct wet cleaning should be done without the use of aggressive detergents(just wipe the panels with a slightly damp cloth). It is recommended to use special means for shine and even texture: polish and wax. Such processing can be carried out with a fairly large frequency - once every 3-4 months. This will help get rid of minor scratches and surface damage.

Successful wall decoration solutions are shown in the photo :

Ceiling it is necessary to decorate with stucco or painting. Even in a small living room of a small apartment, you can make the ceiling luxurious! The materials for stucco molding are standard: gypsum, polystyrene.

Floor it is best to finish with natural materials: wood or stone. However, if you are interested in a more budgetary option, then you can use laminate or tiles. Having chosen the right color scheme, it is recommended to lay a carpet, since the classic style implies its presence.

When creating a style for windows and doors, you should pay attention to wooden doors with painting or steel elements.

Lighting selection

Particular attention should be paid to lighting in the living room. For small living rooms in small apartments, massive chandeliers with crystal shades, which are characteristic of classicism, are not suitable. Unfortunately, they have to be abandoned in order to avoid a sharp visual reduction in space. However, there should be a lot of light, because it visually expands the space.
There are several guidelines for lighting a small living room:

  • Recessed luminaires. Unobtrusive, inconspicuous lighting fixtures built into décor or furniture are perfect for small spaces. They create the effect of the "omnipresence" of light, but do not make it too intrusive.
  • Desk lamp. Table lamps are an integral part of the interior of any room, made in a classic style. Their choice is huge. There are no definite recommendations - everything is in your hands. You just need to follow the chosen color scheme and your taste preferences.
  • Wall sconces. Elegant decorative element and good way lighting the space.

Advice! In order to focus on certain "highlights" of the interior, you can use LED backlight hidden behind a painting or a mirror, for example.

Examples of a good choice of living room lighting can be seen by looking at the photos:

Furniture and accessories

When choosing furniture, do not dwell on massive wardrobes or sofas. Neat and graceful armchairs and sofas are ideal for such a room. Sideboards and chests of drawers must be placed around the perimeter of the room. This will help to differentiate the space into 2 zones: a functional and a recreation area. Accessories should be chosen in accordance with the classic style, but you should not stop your choice on bulky items. Paintings, bookshelves, animal skins and mirrors are a good choice for decorating floors and walls. Furniture can be decorated with beautiful pillows or covers.

Good luck with your interior design! And remember that limited space is not a hindrance to unlimited imagination.

The classic style in the interior is universal, it remains relevant for many years. The living room in a traditional style is a cozy, comfortable room that combines the beauty, elegance and severity of traditional design. It is pleasant to be in such a room and to receive guests; it demonstrates to the visitors the great taste of the owner, his desire for order, stability and harmony. Consider the rules for decorating the interior of a living room in a classic style.

Features of the classic style

Each of the directions of the classics has a number of its own unique features, but there are also General characteristics for the whole direction. First of all, it is moderation, restraint, soft, warm colors, smooth lines.

Specific traits

Traditional style is a rather broad concept - it includes Empire, Baroque, Rococo, modern classics. It is most popular in the version of classicism - a trend created on the basis of ancient culture.

The interior of the living room in a classic style is distinguished by the following features:

  • the presence of a kind of "focal points" - the interior of each room is built around some piece of furniture (for example, a sofa or fireplace);
  • correct and clear geometric shapes, antique restraint and severity of the setting;
  • plain walls, the best way- white and other natural, pastel colors;
  • a moderate amount of decor, the main elements: stucco on the walls and ceiling, curtains and curtains, elegant porcelain knick-knacks and dishes;
  • symmetrical arrangement of furniture and large decor.

Unlike many other types of design, the classics cannot stand half-heartedness, so there is no point in decorating only one room in this style. Traditional design loves spacious, light rooms and high ceilings. Natural expensive materials and antiques are highly valued.

Color palette

The classics prefers calm, noble shades, does not like variegation - you should not experiment with color and contrasts, dilute the interior with bright notes.

Basic shades in the design of a classic living room:

  • White;
  • beige;
  • gold;
  • ocher;
  • yellow;
  • terracotta;
  • olive.

The traditional color combination of classicism is white and gold. In this case, blotches of black are also possible. On furnishings, you can make accents in burgundy, dark blue or dark green. The main thing is that the chosen additional color is the only bright accent and is repeated in most furnishings.

There can be three or four flowers in a room in total - do not allow variegation and luridness in the situation. Restraint and moderation should be in everything. It is worth noting that modern classics allow more freedom in choosing the color scheme of the design - it is enough to preserve the overall harmony of the interior.

Living room decoration

A hall in this design requires a carefully thought-out high-quality finish, using expensive materials whenever possible. Light, neutral tones are chosen.

Floor and ceiling

The floor of the living room of classical design should be laid out with expensive and high-quality ceramic tiles imitating stone or marble, or wooden parquet. Choose a dark, matte shade, let's say a typesetting geometric pattern that visually expands the room. As a rule, the floor remains uncovered, but if this option seems uncomfortable, for example, a small carpet in front of the sofa. It can be plain or with a laconic floral pattern.

Ceilings in this style are preferable simple, with white, ivory, or beige plaster. If funds allow, you can decorate them with plaster moldings, borders (for high ceilings) and graceful rosettes. The center of the ceiling is a richly decorated crystal chandelier, or expensive glass, with shades in the form of candlesticks.

Walls

Wall decoration in classic design is distinguished by simplicity and natural shades. Wallpaper is quite acceptable in this direction.

They can be of the following types:

  • with vertical stripes in the spirit of the Victorian era;
  • with an unpretentious floral pattern of a dark shade;
  • with geometric patterns;
  • plain, light, pastel colors.

Wallpaper can be both paper and fabric. If they are rough, then this technique will add coziness to the solemn atmosphere of a traditional interior. The main thing is that the shade of the pattern on the wallpaper should be barely noticeable, make a minimal contrast with their background.

In a small room, it is better to choose plain wallpaper or Venetian plaster. In the spacious living room, the wallpaper can be supplemented with stucco or carved wood paneling downstairs. Wall decorations in the form of bas-reliefs and pilasters are also suitable for large living rooms. If you are a fan of Baroque or Rococo, try to upholster the walls, or one of them, with an expensive fabric, for example, satin.

Room decoration

Decorating a traditional living room is no easy task. It requires complete harmony of all elements, strict symmetry and unity.

Furniture

Furniture in traditional design - wooden, from an array of expensive species (walnut, oak, cherry wood). Its forms are distinguished by grace and elegant pretentiousness: carved legs and backs, high seating, inlaid with gold, bronze, mother-of-pearl, enamel. The classic implies the use of headsets in the design of the living room - a set of a sofa and twin armchairs.

The seating area in this version includes a sofa (sometimes two of the same), armchairs on either side of it, and a rectangular wooden coffee table, which can accommodate a vase of flowers, or a group of porcelain figurines.

Upholstery of upholstered furniture includes several materials:

  • Genuine Leather;
  • expensive textiles;

The upholstery should be in harmony with the shade of the wall covering, ideally, repeat its pattern or ornament. Note the terracotta, coral, beige, cream and lavender tones.

The classic prefers symmetry, so most furniture in the interior should have a pair. If you like baroque and rococo - give preference to an exquisite, sophisticated decor: gilding, inlaid with precious metals. If you prefer a strict Empire style, give up the abundance of jewelry, choose objects of simple shapes.

Decor and textiles

The decor in classic design is characterized by restrained elegance, cold luxury and high quality materials. There should be few elements, but their choice should be approached with great care and not stingy.

Here are a few highlights in decorating a living room:

  • porcelain products: vases with flowers, decorative plates on the walls, figurines on shelves, side tables, cabinets and a fireplace;
  • mirrors - their shape is in complete harmony with the prevailing silhouettes of the room;
  • clock - semicircular, carved, gilded, inlaid with bronze, mahogany, precious stones;
  • elegant wrought metal candlesticks;
  • paintings with pastoral subjects or landscapes, picturesque tapestries - their color scheme should not strongly contrast with the basic shades of the setting.

It's a good idea to make an ensemble of thematic group figurines, for example, a pastoral from rural life.

The classic uses textiles to a minimum - curtains, furniture upholstery, sometimes small carpets in the sofa area. Choose thick curtains: silk or velvet, gathered with gold thread. If the room is spacious and light enough, add a light curtain of tulle. Curtains with the same design can also be used to decorate doorways, especially in a large room. Floor lamps with fabric shades, whose pattern repeats the patterns on the furniture upholstery, look interesting in a traditional atmosphere.

Classicism, in contrast to modern trends, not only permits, but also welcomes open or transparent glass cabinets that showcase the contents, especially if they are books. Ideally, it is supposed to exhibit a book series, subscription editions.

Lighting

A traditional living room requires good lighting. In the center of the room, hang a large, luxurious chandelier in white, gold, translucent blue, or pale pink. Its decorations will be exquisite crystal pendants, shades in the form of candlesticks, rosebuds, bells or tulips. Light Tone: Only natural yellowish or pinkish sheen is recognized.

The chandelier is complemented by other light sources - tall floor lamps, small lamps, paired sconces. All of them must adhere to a single silhouette. Sconces, as a rule, are placed on the sides of a sofa or fireplace, floor lamps - near a bookcase or sideboard, lamps are placed on pedestals or coffee tables, they illuminate armchairs. In decorating lamps, preference is given to forged elements, simple geometric patterns, textile lampshades to match other furnishings. Luxurious candelabra made of copper with gilding, bronze, silver with wrought patterns and inserts of enamel, Venetian or Bohemian glass will perfectly fit into the interior.

Fireplace

A modern classic living room would be unfinished without a cozy, ornate antique fireplace. If you like vintage interiors, go for the natural over the decorative or electric option.

The hearth can be conveniently placed in a wall niche or any other hollow design. If it is not possible to purchase a real fireplace, give naturalness and realism to its electric version with the help of decorative attributes: poker, firewood, wrought iron grate.

The fireplace is one of the traditional focal points of the living room.

There are two types of furniture arrangement in front of it:

  • a coffee table, floor lamps and curbstones are located parallel to the fireplace, a sofa and armchairs are symmetrically opposite each other;
  • the sofa and armchairs move in a semicircle to the fireplace, pedestals are placed between them - this type of arrangement is suitable for those who like to bask on cold evenings by a warm hearth.

A more modern way of arrangement is a fireplace under the TV, which is hung on the wall.

Porcelain and crystal items, embroidered napkins, candlesticks, photographs in beautiful wooden frames are placed on the mantelpiece as decorations. Above the board, you can hang a hand-made panel, and decorate the lattice and frame with stucco or carving.

How to decorate a small living room

Although the direction in question loves the breadth of space, a small living room in a classic style, with the right design, will look as cozy and solemn as a large one.

To create the effect of expanding space, use the following tricks:

  • a lot of light: natural (large open windows) and artificial (an abundance of lighting elements, spotlights in darkened areas);
  • more mirrors - mirrors high in the entire wall, mirrored cabinet doors will favorably reflect and refract light, creating the illusion of depth of space;
  • minimum furniture: enough sofa, a couple of small armchairs, cabinets and coffee table;
  • instead of a regular sideboard, get a wardrobe - it is a great space saver and will look organic with the appropriate decor;
  • stretch ceiling a light shade will visually increase the height of the living room.

The ideal color scheme for a small living room in a classic design is white and beige. It is better to replace wallpaper in a small room with plaster or paint. If these coverings do not fit, choose embossed types of wallpaper, and take care of perfectly flat walls. Wallpaper is preferable light and monochromatic, but a small, unpretentious pattern is also acceptable.
